Buckle up: Twisted Metal is roaring into the second season! Having been slated for its second season on July 31 on Peacock, the show has been all hype, while the gamers are feeling some sort of saltiness that Sony has not yet said anything about a new game.

The PlayStation Twitter account dropped the news with a simple “Get out the way!” link attached to the announcement. Opinions were differing somewhat. Some players could not wait for more mayhem on wheels. Others just glare sideways at Sony for giving the show so much attention instead of reviving the beloved game franchise.

Saying the unsaid, one gamer, @Shrekfan4203, had an abrasive, “Can we get a new twisted metal game please instead of wasting money on trash games no one asks for.” Ouch. That, however, is not the case for all of them; many, having enjoyed Season 1, are actually looking forward with great excitement to Season 2, with @CanadianZar tweeting, “such a great time,” and @JSweet10678194 plainly stating, “It’s so good lol.”

So from there, what about Season 2? Well, if you missed Season 1 (and truly, where were you?), well, it was just a setup for the actual Twisted Metal tournament. @Shutupgabee: “First season is just a set up for the Twisted Metal tournament, So honestly probably a good time for you to start.”

And the tournament is actually happening; FINALLY. “Finally the tournament lol,” summarizes @xenowriter.

More interesting is that elephant in the room—or that is, rather, the absence of a new Twisted Metal game! @ionicfire666 threw a bit of shade with, “With no new Twisted Metal game might I add. SONY!…”; even more contemptuous was @Real17Iz: “We need a new game not this.”

Sony has been silent on the game for quite a while now, but the show’s success might just move them to resurrect the franchise at last, or maybe not. Hard to tell.

Meanwhile, some players have come just for the chaos. @ReticleRonin said, “This bout to be fire 🔥🔥🔥🔥,” while @BlitzBlitz99 was screaming, “HELL YEAH!!!”

Never to be forgotten is @ThePhrasemaker’s odd but hilarious, “NoHo Hank got hair.” If you know, you know.

So, yes, Twisted Metal Season 2 is coming, and July 31 is going to be a wild ride whether you’re here for the show or holding out hope that a new Twisted Metal game is going to break through one of these days.

Just don’t expect an announcement from Sony anytime soon. Or ever. But, hey, at least we’ve got Anthony Mackie to keep us amused on Peacock.

Wait, what was I saying again? Oh yes, mark your calendars. July 31. Twisted Metal. Be there or be square. Or just go play the old games again. Whatever works.
