Big news is coming from Treyarch about Black Ops 7, and already people have been losing their heads. Treyarch has stated that this will be the first Call of Duty game where the player can wall jump with the ability to chain up to three jumps in one sequence. The forefront catch, meanwhile, is that momentum decreases with wall jumping after the first jump; perhaps the perfect thing to balance it but could aggravate some of the gods of movement.
CharlieINTEL’s hot grab-it-with-both-hands tweet came with a clip showing the wall jump mechanic in full glory. And from what I saw, it is pretty nice. SpaceManTimmy in one of the replies said “clunky” for the end of the wall jump, which is a fair sight since it’s probably still in development. Most players seem to be hyped for it, as WhiteNoise commented “so peak 💯 hope they keep this in no matter the Beta reviews.” Yes, and that is the way!
Of course, some are not happy about it. Replies are all over the place, portraying CoD. Above everything, some gamers have begun to rally comparisons with other games. That Battlefield 6 talk is laying around, with Rocke33fella saying, “Because of this wall jump im buying battlefield 6!” Which, LOL, okay dude, go do you. Then we have the classic PC versus console arguments stirring again, with WhiteNoise (he’s everywhere!) responding, “PC players ruining Warzone? Hell yea good on us” to somebody else. The tribalism, it is real.
There’s even the occasional throwback to skill issue comments. Most probably WhiteNoise lives on Twitter with those gems emanating from his mouth repeatedly. Like when someone whined about something, he would respond with a “skill issue lmao.” Then clapped back was garnered by someone else: “Wow, ‘skill issue’ – what a revolutionary take. Did you workshop that comeback or does it just come naturally?” Burn. But, hey, that’s Twitter for you-the endless back and forth.
Then and now, there exist a few reservations about the release date. Somebody stated September 6th, to which WhiteNoise said, “Sept. 6. already hyped for BO7.” But like, is that even confirmed? Treyarch hasn’t announced an official date yet, so just chill about that for a while. After that, the usual jabs at Modern Warfare would begin surfacing with comments like “MW is the worst 🤢🗑” for, of course, every new CoD has to have its predecessor dragged through the dirt.
The interesting thing about the mechanic is how it might change gameplay; being able to chain three wall jumps could create insane flank routes or escape routes. But seeing that the momentum slows down after the first jump, it will most likely not be that OP as it sounds. It reminds me of old CoD advanced movement but with a nice twist. Treyarch always does well when throwing new movement options that feel good to use without breaking the game.
The community is split, though. Some think it’s a great idea and addition that’ll raise the ceiling on skill; others fear that it’ll just make the game a little too chaotic. But that’s the beauty of Call of Duty—each year, a new element shakes up the meta! Love it or hate it; it’ll keep itself interesting.
Black Ops 7, probably the next big thing, will place Treyarch smack dab in the spotlight of their next victory soon after the mixed responses previously. This wall jump will probably be the first step to awarding players who miss fast movement of the old days. Or it will become the next black eye of Treyarch that everyone bashes on. Time will tell.
Till then, the hype train stops for no one. Players have already gone wild speculating as to how it will work in Zombies or Warzone. Think about it: chaining wall jumps to escape the horde or get to high ground in BR. Tons of possibilities, and that’s why it has the crowd lining up. Despite some haters, the vibe is quite bright. Call of Duty lovers are resilient-Their game is their top priority, and they will do nothing but leaving complaining for another time.
Evidently, Black Ops 7 is setting up to be yet another biggie. That new mechanic of course confirms Treyarch is swinging for the fences. That is what we need. So, in an effort to stay relevant, the franchise has to evolve, and big moves like these are big risks seen worth taking. Now, we wait for further details on it, hopefully attached with a release date. Until then, stay active.
