Lara Croft is back in action, with gamers going insane over the very recent teaser for Tomb Raider II Remastered. The official Tomb Raider Twitter account released a quick clip with Lara growing danger from zero to ten seconds, captioned with a little bit of nostalgia. The intention behind the post was to promote the remaster. However, gamers took over the reply sections with one pressing question, “When is the next patch??”

The tweet tries to instill the feeling of going back when it was still possible for tensions of Tomb Raider II to last till this day. It is 1997 or the current year, 2024, the adventures of Lara are still quite thrilling, and the fans are not just here for the nostalgia. The fans want it now, and they shamelessly demand improvements. A flood of replies asking for Patch #2, Patch #5, visual upgrades, and even CRT TV filter (yes, seriously!) crashed upon the post.

Then came Kranky Critic with the one everyone wanted to hear: why are the remasters rated M while the originals were not? No one’s answered yet, but maybe those Lara kills are somehow more brutal in HD. Nostalgia struck GamerPauly with the recall of having to get a 3DFX card just to get the original game up and running.

The update cries crept further in. Players such as baseqq775560 wish Tomb Raider II to receive just as much love as later entries because it is “flat” compared to newer remasters. RossKroft96 begged for Patch 5 to take care of the visual upgrade, while AdaWpng went to keyboard-smash excitement over the possibility of remasters for Legend/Anniversary/Underworld. Calm yourself, genius.

On the smaller scale of arguments, ZodiacThundaga asks for bilinear filtering in classic mode, and chaotic_black agree with the “crushed blacks” as something to be celebrated with the timeless game. Anybody would think lighting is going to cause interest.

Never mind absurd ideas. Gaming_ribbon wants to know about the next Tomb Raider game—because, hey, why not ask? Meanwhile, brejnakmateusz1 compares Lara’s newfound danger to “a Monday.” So much for the connection.

And hence, what do you take away from this? Tomb Raider II Remastered is still a banging good time, but the players really want some polishing done for it now with brightness options, texture take-overs, or any sign whatsoever that patches are being prepared. The fanbase is paying no heed to any cooling-off halfway. And, I mean, I just feel the same way. The devs had better be listening, because this hype train isn’t slowing down any time soon.

For the uninitiated yet, it might just be time. But don’t come back at us for screaming at the screen as Lara launches herself in a crazy dive down a cliff. Some things just never change.
