The first trailer for Nahida, Genshin Impact‘s newest character, is a melancholy welcome to the Dendro Archon. HoYoVerse has begun to share information about the upcoming patch, Version 3.2, which will add new characters and the next chapter to Sumeru’s story next week. Two new bosses, reruns of popular past characters, recent events, and more were announced in last week’s Version 3.2 Special Program. The debut trailer for Nahida has finally offered players a glimpse into her tragic backstory.
Genshin Impact’s latest teaser, “Nahida: Happy Birthday,” follows the new Dendro Archon through the first few chapters of Sumeru’s Archon Quest. In the promotional material, we hear Nahida tell the same story multiple times, switching between the original “Knight of Flowers” and the Traveler, about how she met and hosted the Sabzerus Festival. The trailer’s second half, however, takes a more sinister turn, reflecting the tale of Version 3.1, in which the Sages capture and imprison Nahida.
Aside from the overt references to Versions 3.0 and 3.1, Nahida’s trailer includes several other subtle components of the character’s past. For example, the trailer’s focus on a birthday celebration and Nahida’s first encounter with the Knight of Flowers both allude to her recent birth as the Dendro Archon following the death of Greater Lord Rukkhadevata. In addition, Nahida tells the same story in several ways throughout the trailer, alluding to the story’s development throughout the Sabzerus Festival. The first banner for Nahida, version 3.2, will drop next week.
Next to Nahida, HoYoVerse also unveiled the next four-star character coming to Genshin Impact in Version 3.2. As a Cryo Sword user, Layla, a sleepy Akademiya student, will be added to Genshin Impact in the upcoming update. Layla’s kit includes shielding and off-screen damage as a formidable support for Cryo-focused teams. When they become available in the upcoming patch for Genshin Impact, Nahida and Layla will each add additional dimensions to the game.
