The so-called indefatigable Gen.G’s win-worthy record seemed destroyed, much to the clamor of the League fans. The @lolesports tweet said it all: “WIN STREAK: DESTROYED.” Short, simple, and so much fun for all the T1 supporters.
In reality, what happened? T1, of course, under Faker’s guidance, engineered a tremendous upset against a Gen.G that for so long looked untouchable in the LCK. The battle was chaotic, very intense, and going back and forth-a little too intense, some viewers might say-but hey, it’s the kind we like. And to wrap the day? T1 win, killing Gen.G’s reign for good and shaking the whole competitive circuit.
But those replies were the real theatre. Oh, those replies. Gamers decided to come out proudly, applauding T1 on its impressive return, while others-well… Let us say that Gen.G supporters had a harsh going through it. One user (@Crxith) wrote: “T1 > GENG tho”. Indeed. Meanwhile, @OmarKSG hit this one home: “5 world titles > 0. Keep crying lil bro.” OOF. That must have hurt a tad.
Then the whole Faker moment arrived. @vizual__ remarked about the relief on Faker’s face and called it “so cute” post-match. Honestly? Yep, that was cute. The man carries the weight of an entire esports heritage on his shoulders; a smile from him after a big W is an atmosphere of its own.
And then, of course, another crowd strolled in. @popsly_lol started an extended rant about T1 fans overrating their players, asserting, “It’s fine to say that Faker played bad a lot of the time during Trist / Corki meta.” Bold take, my guy. Bold take. And, of course, that began a fiery back-and-forth as @winkyfiftyone shot back, “why u such a T1 hater.” Classic Twitter beef-never gets old.
In the meantime, defenders for Gen.G were all about the fight, with @DanGC87 trying to minimize the loss by referring to the past. But honestly, when @sweatzera said, “Worlds T1 is loading,” that hit different. T1 might not be perfect, but when they are, they ARE. And this win is big momentum going into the next phases of the season.
So, what after? Well, judging by history, this is just another beginning to the LCK rivalry. Gen.G would seek revenge, T1 would want to prove that this was no fluke, and the rest of us? Here we would be eating popcorn through it all.
One thing: the LCK is so much tastier now! And WE ARE FOR THIS.
