Immediately, some big news got dropped by Nintendo. The third best 3-D platformers ever reviewed have now been nominated for the Switch owners to play, as it is released as a collection.”

The announcement was made on Nintendo’s official Twitter page, with Mario fans going wild from the short, sweet trailer caption “Two galactic adventures await!” But a good contingent is less than 100 percent happy about the approach taken.

Price pretty much became the first issue. At $70, there was an immediate divide in the community, some considering it outright robbery while others sided with Nintendo on pricing.-Another respected Johnson-fan on Twitter @Smaster20076 stated-I must stress $70 for BOTH games. Before anyone says ‘Metroid Prime was 40;’ Metroid Prime is ONE game. Super Mario Galaxy alone is a larger game than Metroid Prime. Galaxy 2 is even bigger.

Others, though, are saying it’s not worth it, like @rebserve, @Hareltheking94 was appalled by “70$ for both games… Even though it should’ve been like least 60 or 50.” The venue is in complete chaos right now, with many pointing out that the price of Mario games rarely drops over time.

The funny bit is: There are quite a lot of people that have these games in some form or another. @Catrad0ra says, “I already own both on the wii & even got the first one as part of the bundle on the Switch so I won’t be purchasing this.” They are not alone. Much of the replies shared the same sentiment that they own the original one on Wii or gained Galaxy 1 through the 3D All-Stars collection released by Nintendo not so long ago.

Discussions about 3D All-Stars surfaced. @Pe0plesRepublic, bluntly referred to this as “a slap in the face,” “Why didn’t we get a DLC pack and upgrade path for 3D Allstars??” It kind of feels bitter that they put out a collection with Galaxy 1 and now are doing another for both Galaxy games. I guess Nintendo’s gonna Nintendo.

A glaring concern has to be the control scheme. @todd_howze raised that question: “So you’re not gonna talk about improved controls for the infamous gimmicky levels (like the manta ray and ball levels)?” Given the fact that these games even use the Wii motion controls quite a bit, it will be interesting to see how the controls will be implemented on the Switch Joy-Cons. @kronost0612701 was still wondering, “Which Joy-Con is going to be the nunchuck?”

While negativity encompasses these questions, a wave of excitement is definitely forming. “@Jadesthehedge02 said “We’ve been waiting for Mario Galaxy 2 since the release of 3D All-stars. But we’re glad Galaxy 2 is coming to the switch.” And, perhaps the most relatable one ever, was offered by @JacquesPaught: “Fantastic games, finally playable without batteries.” I mean it was the worst having to buy batteries for the Wii remotes all the time.

Speculations of bigger things following the timing of this release are already beginning. @zoathuss: “Sounds like Galaxy 3 could be on the horizon with these 2 being remastered for switch and switch 2 as well as the Mario movie 2 focusing on galaxy.” And @7781_Owen was just crying in French,” On voulait un super Mario Galaxy 3 King-mood.”

Some random tech patent drama goes on in the answers that I do not totally comprehend, but it has something to do with Nintendo patenting game mechanics? The gaming community still remains messy, I guess.

And yet, despite that and all the questions, just the bare fact that both Galaxy games are getting onto modern hardware is very huge. Level design is best ever, music is amazing, and of course, there’s all the classic Mario charm every plat-fromer with a high reputation can boast about. Speaking Dimension Galaxy is a premier platformer that kept itself trapped in the Wii world for so long that practically an entire generation of gamers never got to experience it in the real sense.

October 2nd is the release date; planning to arrive just in time for @Sliemcatnoo’s birthday (congrats dude). Worths being $70 tie into how much you really value those classics portable and in HD. Some will buy it without a doubt, maybes others wouldn’t give a second thought. But one thing’s for sure: Mario’s galactic adventures are finally landing on the Switch, and that is pretty cool if you think about it.
