So Capcom really did manage to release the Fighting Pass extension news for Street Fighter 6, centering around C. Viper. The “C. Viper Arrives!” Fighting Pass is now available for some premium rewards until Viper herself joins the proper roster. And, really, the reactions have gone from one end of the spectrum to another throughout this time. Some have been hyped; others just aren’t feeling it right now.
Basically, the pass lets you collect fight data and get yourself the Cammy spooky color combo and the Guile silver fox look. Well, as soon as that Guile skin came on display, things went from calm to chaotic-right-away. That is how things have to be! One player, Goku D. Ryuzaki, said that these warlocks are very much a direct reference to JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure! “I love the Polnareff color scheme with Guile; its fitting since Capcom are big JoJo Fans. Some characters’ appearance, personalities, attacks, & poses are influenced by JoJo,” he states. And he ain’t wrong – Capcom have had this tradition of referencing, so it’s a nice little nod to those in know.
On the other hand, a lot of players are sitting back and wondering if these rewards are worth it. Another user, Anthony Darling, did not hold back: “In this game down bad, in SFV we were getting costumes now we’re getting colours and they’re doing trailers for it.” Ouch. That was another voice of dissent: “You guys actually buy these stuff?” Needless to say, it just feels less generous to unload color variants compared to the costume drops in the past games.
To sully the passive aggressive state of existence with the “hot” genre of drama just isn’t enough, it’s drenched in controversy and in dismay really look into the next characters right now. JoshuaSegovia19 threw his hat into the ring with a copious list of demands: “Which Street Fighter Returning Villains who were last playable in Street Fighter 5 should return in Street Fighter 6 in The Next Year after Year 3 for me I want to see Vega and Balrog as well Urien Kolin Gill and Seth.” Everyone, in fact, wants their favorite after C. Viper hype. Another player flatly demanded: “we wanna Laura.” So Capcom’s feeling seriously pressured to deliver fan favorites next.
Speaking of “gameplay trailer,” There isn’t one. Quite bluntly, and very fittingly coming from a player named C VIPER IS IN SF6, “POST THE GAMEPLAY TRAILER FOR VIPER.” Fair enough. Everybody will want to see what she looks like in the SF6 engine, being that she hasn’t done much since SF4. The hype is real, and Capcom is definitely teasing her with the pass; however, the players want to see the real deal.
Some reactions are a laugher. One crowed up a picture of Kamen Rider and asks why with Cammy’s spooky color scheme. One more “HOLY SHIT” GIF comes back as a response. The community, I am telling you, is never boring.
Amidst waves of excitement and criticism, there were a few respectful reactions toward the little details. Rashid was quite keen on noticing the SF4 brush stroke challenger screen effect as a nice little throwback. There’s one more going around yelling praise for the trailer due to the absence of “shitty music,” so I’m gonna call that one a win!
Now we finally have in the market C. Viper Fighting Pass, which has already stirred voices. Either you are in love with the JoJo references or are feeling down about the rewards or just antsy for that gameplay reveal. Either way, it’s just proof of how active the Street Fighter player base still is. Capcom really does know just how to stir the pot within the community, and this is no exception. Now, we sit down and wait for Viper to drop for real and see if she can live up to all that love.
