Capcom has disclosed some details about Street Fighter 6, which, it must be admitted, is not the sort of news that the die-hard gamers were yearning for. The official Twitter account of the Street Fighter game informed that Amaki Pururu, a popular Japanese streamer and member of the esports organization REJECT, will be the guest color commentator for the game on December 16. Moreover, players who log into the game from December 16, 2025, to March 3, 2026, will get a unique title. What a funny and entertaining crossover it sounds like, right? Nevertheless, the community’s response was…well, it wasn’t all flowers and butterflies, to be honest. The complaints were mostly ‘what is Capcom doing?!!’
The post that was shared via tweet about the whole event included a video clip of Amaki Pururu giving her introduction with the same high-energy and ‘angel-devil’ persona she usually does while stating, ‘Amaki Pururu, your angel-devil favorite is here!’ Many people seemed to be bothered by that particular instance, other people were asking for the new voice that would be in the booth, and the complaints about all that should still be done weren’t even in a hype mood; instead, it was just a whole heap of complaints.
Before long, the section for replies was full of complaints. A player by the username of samurai soul jones, expressed the general feeling: ‘Who the hell cares….. when will the costumes for the rest of the cast be put on sale….. we should be on costume 8 by now as it’s been more than 2 years.’ Ouch! That was surely a very strong hit. Another user, RoseForSf6, remarked, ‘At this point, I don’t even know who the target audience for this game is, cause it’s definitely not Street Fighter fans.’ This is a very harsh critique, indicating a significant disconnect between the company’s marketing and the demands of the hardcore players.
And it wasn’t just a matter of costumes. Gamers are yearning for fundamental fighting game innovations. Player Resignedbc27 couldn’t be clearer: ‘Yall gotta do something about that gameplay.’ Andre Carvalho referred to specific mechanics, tweeting, ‘While throw loops are still in, drive rushes are still a matter of luck whether you can stop them or not and we are getting charged for watching Capcom Cup ☠️.’ Thus, while the company announces a commentator from Twitch, the players see the balance problems looming, which frustrates them further along with the monetization methods.
Coming back to Pururu-san, the opinions were mixed. Many of the comments were due to the voice over in the advert. ‘Holy sht that was annoying,’ commented B Simpson. ‘That was the most annoying voice I have heard in my life,’ added segx. User Falconsfs simply stated, ‘Talks as if in baby voice 🤢🤢.’ Miko_a♠️♥️ shared a GIF of a person putting fingers in their ears with the caption, ‘The fk my ears it’s so annoying and so cringe.’ It appears that the very-sweet, high-pitched style of delivery is not being accepted by a large part of the Western Street Fighter audience.
Some treated it as a Japan-centered move that globally fails to catch the point. ARCADIAN|HIGHWIND tweeted, ‘Capcom mostrando mais uma vez, que ela faz conteúdo pra Japonês, é só…’ which in English translates to ‘Capcom showing once again that they make content for Japanese people, that’s it…’ This hints at the potential misalignment of the developer’s priorities with its global community.
However, not everything was negative. A portion of the fans was ecstatic. A user by the name of Nee just wrote, ‘THATS THE GOAT!!!!’ and _kurapan_ posited, ‘perhaps I have to start playing again.’ And the user sake_3 delightedly asserted ‘TEAM REJECT’ as a sign of support. Thus, there is a tiny niche that is really into it, probably the purveyor of Pururu’s streaming career. Yet, the clamor of the majority demanding significant game content has simply overwhelmed the voice of the few who are in favor of Pururu’s collaboration.
The demand could not be clearer and is very loud. The reactions are like a scratched record replaying the same requests over and over: things that are not this one commentator. ‘Balance Patch? Costumes?? Stages??? Nothing?????’ was the question posed by Henrikque. ‘You guys are lacking on actual character costumes…. Guess avatar and commentators are your main things smh,’ was the comment of Hydroponica. ‘I think we would rather have new costumes,’ was the opinion of Tony | RESIDENCE of EVIL. Cross-progression requests even crept in there, with L’ ִֶָ🐇♰ asking, The game is also available on PlayStation and Xbox.
