Bethesda’s tweet rocked the world with its showcasing of a new Starfield creation that in particular caught the full attention of everybody. And by everybody, half of the replies are people screaming out for a DLC, but we’ll get to the mess in just a second. The official Starfield account tweeted about this insane creation with a mod called “Sail the Stars” by creator FenHarellan.
The whole concept was build-yourself-pirate-ships-in-the-space-kinda-philosophy. Real wooden just-iron-sawed ships with massively big sails gliding through cosmic aura. How cool is that?? This creation puts together over 80 structures for ship construction and 20 new sail engines; now try to fathom the awesomeness that comes with it. It’s meant for the explorers who want to sail across the stars in a ship of times past. Such a vibe. And basically, these ship constructions are way-so-cool-o.
And then the conversation descends into chaos with players now growing pretty impatient at Bethesda. As NuclearComment claimed, they will give BGS until the two-year anniversary of Starfield to have a gargantuan free update and a massive Bethesda DLC if not so by said anniversary, they will never touch a Bethesda game again. And pretty much dedication, being that the player is level 366 and has been through the Unity something like 14 times?
Jamie_Eaves just jumped in with a sprinkle or two of bitterness: “We’re going to support Starfield with 10 years of content” and then added “What they actually meant is that creators will do it for them….” Ouch. But, you know what? That’s kind of true. Because right now the modding scene is doing some heavy lifting.
Straight up, WeslleyDM80 demanded, “Are you guys going to keep showing only Creation stuff? Where’s the new content? New updates? The game is abandoned,” with E_G_Grandad responding with, “They released new DLC a few months ago and have new DLC dropping in a few months. Keep up little man.” Drama, drama.
Then TheTankball shot off, “Idk why they r even trying no one is playing this mid trash.”… Brutal. Then R_E_Schumacher dropped the bounce with, “This is awesome, will get this next time I’m on.” So the opinions are all over the place.
Funny thing is there were so many making the comparison to Treasure Planet-StarfuryApollo inquired, “Treasure planet mod?” and PipkinBambie responded, “Treasure planets send their regards,” so that’s the feeling that people are getting from these space sailing ships.
TheronAlvord does provide some actual constructive input-they want actual colonies instead of just outposts. They describe a whole system where you establish the L.I.S.T. colonies and observe their growth through settler and trade movements. Honestly, that sounds pretty dope.
An equal craze of uncertainty as being official content or not mitch8402 asked, “Is this an official update?” and the answer is no: it’s a creation, which is Bethesda’s fancy word for mods that they’re officially promoting, I guess.
GeordieDan wants to know if they are making ECS Constant location fix mod achievement friendly, which is a very specific request but just shows that people really are deep into this modding world.
Thereafter we have Spanish speakers-Empa90s talked about detoxing from Cyberpunk and returning to space with their Liara and Vasquito, which is Mass Effect references in a Starfield thread? Multiverse crossing over here.
So overall, the sentiment is… mixed. They appreciate the ingenuity of the modding community but are really getting restless for the official content. Though Bethesda announced years of support, the players are getting impatient for that one big expansion. This Creation Club stuff is cool but it just isn’t the same as actual DLC.
That’s how passionate people are-the haters and the defenders alike. This game really hit a nerve with people. There’s no middle ground. Some consider it the best thing ever. Some think it’s a complete trash.
In its heart, a mod like Sail the Stars shows what Bethesda games are about-the community getting crazy ideas that game developers never could. Space pirate ships with actual sails? That’s the sort of ingenuity that keeps these games running for years.
By now, Bethesda could use some DLC news alongside soon. For now, the players are restless. The creation is awesome, but people want that official content they were promised. Might we get some news at Gamescom? The hunger is real.
Anyway, if you are still playing Starfield, Sail the Stars mod is another one worthy of your time. Space pirates are forever a good time, especially when they do have these fine wooden ships with space sails. Now don’t hold your breath for any official DLC announcements; the replies shall be begging for content.
