Well, here’s a curve nobody predicted-the oddities of life’s twists. Have fans actually thought about it and are still thinking about it? The recent report propagated the bad news to the supporters of the Bad Guy: he and his Inner Demons won’t be jumping into Spider-Man: Brand New Day after all. The reading actually was right! That villain who usually fits right into the street-level chaos of Spider-Man’s world has been apparently carved out of the story. Players-the term must be brought forth here-are losing it over this.

This rumor, started after @AlexFromCC, has begun a thousand carpet fires. Some poor souls are in pain beyond measures; some are calling it lies. Few are going: “Like, if Mr. Negative is not in this, then who is the big bad? Punisher? Smart Hulk? Mephisto?” Well, somebody does have to cite Mephisto. The downright jokes and we love the mess they create.

Another user, @BrooklynBoyRoy, vocally summed up some of his greater frustrations with: “If y’all mfs keep spoiling this movie, the audience won’t appear either.” So, it is fair to say. The spoilers and leaks are just too constant now, and we are at a point where we cannot even figure out what is truth and what is smoke anymore.

Yet that feels way too random. There had been actually clues that he might be involved in the story. Do you remember the Inner Demon’s logo on the tank in the trailer? The whole casting of an Asian guy in his 40s thing? It all truly seemed aligned…and then it didn’t. @Arcktick_ nailed it: “Then what was that logo on the tank and why did Marvel put out a casting call for an Asian actor in his 40s?” Like, come on, Marvel. You can’t just dangle that carrot and then yank it away.

And those are quietly relieved. @spogologo called it a “W” because, “my least favorite adaptation is the ‘oh new popular character let’s get him as mainstream as possible’ and squander actually developing a franchise.” And hey, that’s a fair take. Not every villain has to be rushed to the center stage. But yeah… Mr. Negative had potential.

And now, of course, the full force of the doubt army kicks in. @MetalBlakedowns is having none of it: “I ain’t trusting that source, they the only one saying this atm lmao.” And honestly, that’d be the smart thing to do. Until Marvel or Sony confirm it, it remains all just speculation. But if it is true, the more pressing question then has to be… what’re they going to do now?

Some of the players have begun pivoting to alternative theories. @TywinResists said: “Mr. Negative would be perfect for Shang-Chi 2 then.” Which… alrighty then, that has a chance of working. But others, like @jimi_na_ningen, can only utter this in response: “Then who the fuck is the main villain?”

Of course, we can’t let that one drop without wild cards sneaking in. @skywalkin998 piled on: “We’re getting woke Punisher omg wtf.” Wait, what? Is that the twist? If so… wow. Just wow.

Truthfully, regardless of whether this rumor holds water or not, one thing is certain: drama is already brewing for Spider-Man: Brand New Day even before a full trailer is out. So kudos to Marvel for keeping us guessing-and then some. But if they’re ridding themselves of Mr. Negative, then this better lead somewhere big, or they’ll be hitting the wall of bizarre missed opportunities in Spidey’s lore together.

So what now? Another leak? An unexpected reveal? Just chaos filling the replies? Time will say. For now, though-the Spider-Verse community just got itself officially torn apart. And honestly? We’d say it’s about time.
