The hotfix will roll out this week for Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 from Focus Entertainment, having been requested by the community given the controversial 10.0 update. After some discourse, the developers thanked the community on social media for their input and promised to keep people informed on future developments. So, another patch is indeed in the making, with players hardly holding back on the things that are in dire need of fixing.
Though having given the world some chocolate goodies, including strategem missions, new rewards, and the usual patch of balance changes, the 10.0 update already begot so many issues that the community has wasted no time in addressing them. The replay reviews ranged all the way from crashing to really bizarre tweaking.
Still, the game’s biggest gripe? The new hard strategem missions punish the players with brutal 75% health reduction. Yup, you heard right. That means 75% reduction in health; that’s like going into battle bearing paper armor instead of power armor. So many players called this out as indefensible—it is almost impossible for certain classes. One even went so far as to say, “I think I am not spacemarine.i is like paper,” which pretty much sums up the feeling. But really, who agreed to that?
Then there is the reward system. Daily strategems are giving 5 or 10 of the new currency, which the players are basically calling a joke. What is the point? One player suggested it should be 25 for easy and 50 for hard missions since they do not pay accordingly at all. And these missions cannot be repeated, meaning if you fail, you are just out of luck. That is uncool.
Crashes are back for some of the players, and it is like being donkey-kicked square in the balls. One user said that it was fixed a bit with the patch before 2.0, but now, whenever they start a mission, the game is calling it quits. Gotta be so frustrating, especially in the heat of heretic purging.
On the more cheerful side of things, some people are having fun. One user said they only installed Vortex for an hour and did one weekly mission on Inferno, and they enjoyed it. So it ain’t all gloom and doom, just bugs.
Specific gameplay nuisances, in addition, are springing up-Jump packs cease to react once too many enemies appear onscreen, Emperor’s Vengeance failed to work correctly with the melta gun, to cosmetical, like missing accessories on wargear. One player pointed out that the back of assault wargear was bugged because it was missing an accessory on the circular plate. Fashion’s important, even in the 41st millennium!
Of course, they’re also asking for more content than ever before… More achievements, maybe some Chaos armor in PVE, maybe even a matching xeno shield for the bulwark aesthetic. Because why not? One player jokingly suggested adding a bigger axe, which-heck, yes. Bigger is always better, especially with axes.
There isn’t exactly any indication as to what the hotfix is going to cover from Focus Entertainment, but the feedback likely means it will tackle the deep issues like the health reduction modifier and crashing problems. They’re probably also looking into those laughable daily mission rewards.”
There is a very high engagement in community interaction. The players now are witnesses to those atrocious missions, helping each other. There are a few offers for help coming from the replies. It’s very cool to see all this coming together even while the game gives them issues.
So, let the hotfix have some well-earned attention later this week. Hopefully, a little smoothing on the rough edges will reform Space Marine 2 into an even better experience. For now, stay away from those hard strategem missions unless it really sounds your sick kind of fun. Or get stuck in with some mates and push hard for the Emperor.
