PlayStation formally announced the release date of the upcoming game Space Channel 5 VR Kinda Funky News Flash. The title was developed and published by Grounding Inc.
In Space Channel 5 VR Kinda Funky News Flash, Ulala guides gamers through the world of Space Channel 5. The title is a music and rhythm game with some action elements. Ulala uses the power of dance to protect Earth against aliens.
The store summary states: “Set in the 25th century, Space Channel 5’s top reporter Ulala is hosting a news report on mysterious dancing incident involving the aliens known as “Morolians” that forces people to dance. Fight against the invading aliens by dancing and receiving more views and helping Ulala win the ultimate dance battle.”
While Ulala is battling with the power of dance, she is also reporting on the news at the same time. All of her actions are being recorded and are judged by her viewers. The more poses she makes, the happier viewers will be making for higher ratings.
The game features a Story Mode starring Ulala, a rookie reporter. Arcade mode helps players new to VR and the world of Space Channel 5. Trial Dance is a series of 100 dances in a row and combines exercise with endurance. Players can track the calories they’ve burned with the Calorie counting mode.
Players can also watch through the story through a third-person perspective with multiple camera angles in Viewing mode. If gamers take an interest in certain characters, there’s a Friendopedia to learn more about them.
The Dressing Room allows players to change Ulala’s outfits, which are unlockable by playing through the game.
Space Channel 5 VR Kinda Funky News Flash was initially scheduled to launch at the end of 2019. The release date was pushed back to Spring 2020 with no set launch date.
The developer and publisher Grounding stated that they wanted to work on improving the quality of the game. Fans were disappointed because there was no set release date when the delay announcement was made.
Now longtime fans of the Space Channel 5 will no longer have to wait for the next game, and now they can experience Ulala’s adventures in VR.
Space Channel 5 VR Kinda Funky News Flash launches on the PlayStation 4 on February 25.
