Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World: The Game Is Returning After Nearly Six Years!

If there’s one thing the gaming community hates, it’s being told no. Nothing gets a fan base whipped into a frenzy quite like having developers and publishers not bow to their whims – for better or for worse.

But possibly the worst thing you can do to the gaming community is deny it a game. Whether it’s through delaying a title or outright removing it, gamers tend to get pretty upset when the game they want is taken from their hands.

Such was the case with the video game adaptation of Scott Pilgrim vs. The World, aptly named Scott Pilgrim vs. The World: The Game. Based off of the same six-volume comic series by Bryan Lee O’Malley as the cult classic movie, the game was an immediate hit.

Unfortunately, it was also a short-lived experience. Released in 2013, the side-scrolling retro beat-’em-up was removed a year later on December 30th, 2014. There were a few reasons for the removal, most commonly being blamed on a lost license.

Since then, fans have shouted almost constantly for the title to be re-released, often reaching out to the author himself despite it generally not being in his control. Earlier this year, as the tenth anniversary of the movie adaptation approaches, both director Edgar Wright and O’Malley himself reached out to Ubisoft.

And it seems that, whatever was discussed, the attempt was finally successful. In the tweet embedded above, O’Malley thanks fans for never giving up and for making sure that the developers knew how much fans still wanted the game.

Ubisoft included it in its recent Ubisoft Forward event, announcing that it would be coming this Holiday season. Even better, exclusivity won’t be a problem – the title will be coming to PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Switch, and even Google Stadia.

To further sweeten the deal, the title being released will be a complete edition, including all DLC. This means that the DLC fighters Knives Chau and Wallace Wells will be included at launch at no extra cost to the players!

We don’t have an exact release date yet, but given that we’re already touching the Holiday season, it won’t be long until we have this long-awaited re-release back in our hands. While next-gen consoles won’t be seeing a direct release, the title being widely available once again is a massive win.
