Hello, everybody! The detectives have another riddle to uncover and this time it is the clash of the snack-loving ones with the globally famous video game Fortnite. The collaboration of Scooby-Doo and Shaggy with Epic Games is the information that the company has unwrapped them in the item shop, and while it is a reason for celebration, the players are still showing their affection for the whole situation in… rather intense ways.

Wow! The Fortnite account made the announcement together with the usual phrase, “we have got a mystery to solve,” and supplemented with the pictures of the well-known Mystery Machine. However, instead of common thrill, the responses area turned into a different type of mystery – the case of the unreasonably priced cosmetics.

The package that includes the two characters will set you back 3,400 V-Bucks, which means about $28 for just the two characters, and in case you want the glider as well? Then the total will be around $35. And the community is not happy at all.

A gamer called Frank Castle went as far as to label Fortnite as greedy, asserting they are “losing contact with their target audience.” Another player, GnomeK, has gone so far as to say it is “almost stealing.” Ouch. Those are some very strong words for a matter that is intended to be a light-hearted Halloween crossover.

But wait, it is even trickier if you consider other partnerships. User TTheRonyX remarked that only a month ago, the Power Rangers pack including FIVE different skins was just 200 V-Bucks more than this two-character one. Like, what are they thinking with such a pricing logic? The five power rangers being comparable in price to the two mystery solvers should not be the case, right?

The comments section has become a war zone. On one end are the folks who want the skins regardless of cost, while on the other side are the ones who think Epic has completely lost the plot. User Mia was in the midst of a long conversation about how collaboration skins seem to be priced according to “whatever they feel like” these days, which… to be honest… kinda feels true?

At the same time, other players are just dumbfounded because Halloween collaborations are coming in all at once. User Aimen tweeted about being tormented by “anxiety” because he could not buy all, which is very relatable in a season when Fortnite releases like ten different crossover skins at once.

Nevertheless, there are still some players who are not complaining at all! Some players who feel a bit pricey are being genuinely excited about it. User SNIB tweeted “Uh-oh! Time to drop at Mystery Mansion!” with sheer joy. And another user simply stated it “sounds like a fun mystery!” So, there is undoubtedly a mix of love and frustration among the players.

Most bizarre is the fact that users have started questioning about the other three characters. What about Velma, Daphne, and Fred? User Ballonman Game conjectured that if the rest of the Mystery Inc crew gets released, their package would most likely be around 3,800 V-Bucks according to “previous records.” Ouch!

And then there are users who are complaining about the aesthetics – user Tony D has asked the company to stick to the original Hanna-Barbera character designs and not to whatever interpretation they might have chosen. Because apparently for some players the nostalgic factor is lacking in the current versions.

Meanwhile, there are users discussing totally unrelated topics such as whether Michael Myers will come back or not, asking for the old movement animations to be returned, and when will Wednesday Addams come to the game. The Fortnite community seems to be the same as always – always wanting the new skin and not satisfied with the old ones.

So what is the final verdict? On the one hand, the presence of Scooby-Doo in Fortnite is a major perk. Just imagine the situation where Shaggy is building a fort and Scooby is in the background hunting some ghostly loot. But, on the other hand… that price tag is making a lot of players feel like they are the ones haunted.

The genuine enigma is not who is behind the mask, but the rationale Epic has that players will be more than willing to part with $35 for two characters while the recent bundles offered much more for just a little extra cost. Perhaps they are counting on nostalgia to be so strong that it will triumph over people’s common sense.

Anyway, the item shop is open, and the gang is complete… or at least two of the characters from the gang are here. It is still unclear whether players are actually purchasing them or just complaining. However, one thing is certain – this Halloween season in Fortnite will be more thrilling than any episode of Scooby-Doo.
