Rockstar Games, simultaneously horrifying and amusing, has recently exposed a Halloween present that can further scare Red Dead Online with the help of double RDO$ and XP in the most dreadful Featured Series as well as triple rewards in All Hallows’ Call to Arms. The duration of this Halloween party is until the 3rd of November, during which time, there are also Moonshine bonuses, and Halloween Pass 2 rewards. Gaming community is somewhat indifferent to all those happenings.

What’s going on in Red Dead Online this week? Access to the Halloween-themed Featured Series is given to the players who need to share the prize of double cash and experience points which is again very much in line with Rockstar‘s weekly bonus system. The All Hallows’ Call to Arms mode is further giving away triple rewards which have to be considered as Rockstar’s stamping Old West zombie survival-mode mapping out. Besides, Moonshine role bonuses and Halloween Pass 2 items are still available until the 3rd of November. The thing is, the players don’t really talk about this stuff.

The comments under Rockstar’s announcement show a totally different side of the story. The Halloween event turns out to be a major wall; instead of the cause for excitement a demand for larger updates and next-gen versions has built up. A user named Ryan__Maciver dares to say: “No one cares! All we want is Red Dead Redemption 2 upgrade! Not even a mention on its 7th anniversary!” which…ouch. A very frank answer indeed but at the same time so indicative of the general atmosphere.

The players’ comments express a desire for PS5 versions, and JacktheHammock simply asks “PS5 version?” with a thinking emoji attached. JanBosk1 even tried to escalate the situation with “Awesome! How about a new RDR2 version for the current console systems?” But the underlying message is the same – where’s the next-gen update that the users have been dying for?

And then there is the huge GTA 6 elephant in the room. One user suggested: “Make a major upgrade for RDRO before GTA 6 instead of rewards” which seems to be a very smart move from sales point of view? Rockstar’s main concentration is on GTA 6 leaving Red Dead Online in sort of a limbo. But still, granting a few Halloween treats to the devoted RDO players doesn’t seem to be too much to ask.

Now, the demands get even more precise. User bobbyblaze calls for “UNDEAD NIGHTMARE 2 and a new MIDNIGHT CLUB game in Japan” which…okay, that is a pretty ambitious wishlist. Undead Nightmare was that awesome zombie DLC for the first Red Dead Redemption and players have been whining for a sequel since RDR2 came out. The Midnight Club request sounds random but who can stop a gamer from dreaming even if the dream is slightly?

The most interesting part is how the community is so split in terms of what they really want. Some people are after remakes and remasters while others like VeritasAequltas, who shot back at someone demanding remakes with “No one wants fuckimg remakes” – Anyway, the spelling mistake there makes me wonder if they were typing in a rage. Either way, the feeling is very intense across the board.

A little bit of random drama in the replies that is totally unrelated to Red Dead was even noted? In one such debate Y87HYU_1 asked lolace999 “Was your mother raped by an Arab man? Why do you hate them this much?” which… does that have anything to do with Halloween bonuses in Red Dead Online? It’s not hard to get lost in the strangest of Twitter conversations sometimes.

FardocheVachon was not the only one to offer a complaint about gameplay, who asked, “Is it only me or is the only thing that people want to do in that game is survival waves? There are a million activities to do but the only thing that people want is waves; I did a few and after that game I was bored but everybody was so pumped and wanted to keep playing, what am I missing?” This is, indeed, a valid point – the Call to Arms mode is indeed just wave-based survival and not everybody would do that kind of gameplay.

Kadathstudio, conversely, was one of the very few who made a fully positive comment, saying, “There’s nothing that can beat the Halloween season in the Old West 🎃 It’s time to load the shotgun, pour some moonshine, and ride off into the night! 🤠💀” So at least there is one person who is enjoying the Halloween ambiance.

The most telling comment could have been from SwanseaJack33 who said: “Announce the delay! Comments gonna be wild 🤣” referring to the rumored delay of the anticipated GTA 6 trailer. It means that players are so much concentrated on Xbox and PlayStation platforms for future updates.
