Cultural change comes hard and slow. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn’t. But what thing you can always count on, whether you happen to be looking for it or not, is that it will come by and pick you up and throw you around a little bit. It’s no different than a bucking bronco or your favorite cowboy in the video game universe. That’s right, megafans, today we are talking about the wild, wild west and the most popular game to every showcase it. Red Dead Redemption 2 came out way back when in 2018, and it altered the universe in ways we never could have imagined. That’s great.
Anyway, when the game first hit the ground, we all found out about some questionable practices that were happening within the universe of the world known as Red Dead Redemption 2. The developers, who work at Rockstar, were having to work extra-long and even unpaid shifts to get the game out on time. Talk about a big ouch over there. Well, as you might have guessed, this stuff leaked to the press, and public pressure was applied to the folks who lead the executive team over at Rockstar. It seems some major changes were made. As you might have guessed already, as it turns out, one of the biggest things to change was working longer hours than anyone had to do. In the past, employees were feeling a bit pressured to work around the clock. Some of them felt like they had to put in the overtime hours. As if it was expected of them.
You see, in the working world, this is actually a big no-no. You are not supposed to do that, guys. So the folks over at Rockstar ended up getting in a spot of the public limelight and were called out for their activities. Well, you might guess what happened next. Yeah, that’s right, cultural change, baby!
How do you change an entire culture? Well, it always starts at the top. Or it starts from the bottom. It’s gotta start somewhere, to say the least. But it did start in the long run, and eventually, things got fixed.
