First of all, Red Dead Online players are not such unfamiliar with weirdo issues, but for once, an unfortunate cowboy got hit by a wagon that chose not to obey physics. The player was simply riding along the wild west; in came that wild wagon and BAM, it practically human-cannonballed the poor player into the skies! The internet went berserk.
The clip shared by u/Adventurous_Sky1432 went viral, with many hilarious responses from the community following. Some called it “the true final boss of the Old West,” while others joked that Rockstar games must be too busy with the development of GTA VI to fuss about such things. Fair enough, right?
Oh, the physics of Red Dead Online-they have always been, well, unpredictable, haven’t they? One minute, you are happily trotting along with your trusty steed; the next minute, you are being launched into the stratosphere by a rogue stagecoach. Equally terrifying and hilarious-if it is done to your friend-of course. Spoiler alert-it is much more fun when it happens to your friend.
The gamer reactions began with comparisons to some of the most famous glitches of all time. They cited the legendary launcher-wagon sequences of Skyrim where carts would be criminally out of place and launch players into the sun. Ah, memories! Others were more direct in pointing out that Rockstar games have long since given up on gravity whenever it seemed convenient in some instances. GTA Online players know all too well.
Really, what is this, just happening? It really is a question if we want to attribute this trademark chaos to Rockstar, or if somewhere down the line someone considers it a spaghetti-code nightmare making them loose. Either way, it is such a charm. Or annoyance. Depends on whom you would ask.
Some funny comments followed; one said the wagon had “plot armor,” while another laughed that the poor victim must have forgotten to switch their GPS from “horse mode” to “car mode.” Classic stuff. And then, of course, the obligatory “skill issue” comments. Can’t let a gaming fiasco occur without someone blaming a player’s lack of skill. Sure, Jan.
Nowadays, the players can’t get enough of Red Dead Online glitches. I mean, the updates just stopped coming, and Rockstar clearly has their hands full on something else (cough GTA VI cough), but there’s something comforting about the unpredictable character of this game’s buggy-ness. Perhaps that’s the thrill; never knowing when the world will decide to stab you in the back.
So will Rockstar ever put an end to the physics nightmare? Probably not any time soon. Meanwhile, at least carpet-burn videos are icing on the cake. And honestly, I don’t think one would ever get tired of seeing a rogue wagon launch a player into orbit. Unless, of course, you are the one at the receiving end of the rocket. In which case, not funny at all.
