Suddenly, Razer promoted a cryptic Tweet, and Po-Ke-monsters have begun clanking around on the other side of the world. The shadowy teaser is followed by “Guess who’s looming in the shadows? 😈” and a date: August 19th, 8 AM PT. Oh, and lest we forget, they did throw in a mention of @Pokemon. This thing is on.

The teaser is loaded with darkness, purple hues, and a pair of glowing eyes that any Pokémon fan would immediately recognize-Gengar, the trickster of a Ghost that has given trainers nightmares since Gen 1. Apart from the date, Razer stayed mum, and the speculations among gamers are growing wild. Are we looking at Gengar-themed gaming peripherals? Maybe a limited-edition headset? Or perhaps a full-tilt Razer x Pokémon collaboration? The hype is real, and the responses to this are nothing less than chaotic.

Caroline X Mejia outright accused Razer of spying on her eBay searches: “RAZERRRRRR you saw me snooping on ebay, didn’t you!?!” Meanwhile, SebastianTheButler exploded in all caps “I WHANT THIS!!!! I LOVE GENGAR!!!” (Them and us!). Some other fans, like Excal, are already set up to be disappointed, guessing that it won’t be available in Australia. Clean.

And then JPipo freed the flex by stating how his wife did the original artwork of this thing, to which goldiethecat210 responded: “Will be out of stock and on eBay for 10x the price within the first 60 seconds.” That stings a little.

But there’s a downside to all this excitement, as Russ went in full rant about Razer’s “worst gift card ever,” threatening to get lawyers involved. Yikes. Meanwhile, Andrew Perez bashed the Pokécollabs for lacking variety: “there’s more than 5 pokemon… i swear every collab uses the same pokemon🙄” Valid point, sure, but also… it’s Gengar. You can’t stay mad at that purple menace.

So, what actually is going to be out there? Razer knows how to do collabs for games; they’ve done Fortnite, Halo, and Cyberpunk 2077. So maybe we get a Pokémon-themed keyboard, mouse, or headset, with the purple aesthetic of Gengar flowing into that of Razer’s neon glow. Or maybe it’s bigger than that-a limited edition console skin or hell, a sharp Gengar-shaped chair (we really can dream).

Unspeakable; wallets are in for a massacre on August 19th. Razer drops last no longer than a few minutes, and we’re talking Pokémon fans here? Yeah, good luck. Set those alarms, get your F5 key ready, and pray it doesn’t end up in scalpers’ hands this time.

If you don’t get it, well, there is always eBay, where it will be sold for 10 times the price. That was bitter, thanks goldiethecat210.
