When Nintendo released Animal Crossing: New Leaf, they probably didn’t expect that Isabelle, the Mayor’s assistant, would become so popular. Since the game was released, Isabelle has appeared in the mobile title Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp and later in Mario Kart 8 DLC, and Super Smash Bros. Ultimate and other games.
Isabelle was also confirmed to appear in the newest installment in the series, Animal Crossing: New Horizons.
While Isabelle, or Shizue in Japanese, has appeared in games, she has also been featured in various merchandise.
Good Smile Company has released several popular characters into movable figures with additional accessories. Previously released Nintendo Nendoroids include The Legend of Zelda series and Pokémon.
The company has announced that their Nendoroid version of Isabelle from Animal Crossing: New Leaf will be released for the fourth time. The character is so popular that the company only allows a limited amount of preorders at one time.
The first release of Isabelle was in October 2013, followed by April 2016, April 2019, and now September 2020. Nendoroids are rereleased for a variety of reasons, from fan demand and popularity or if the company still has the molds.
“From the popular 3DS game Animal Crossing: New Leaf comes a rerelease of the village mayor’s personal secretary – Nendoroid Shizue (Isabelle)! Her trademark hair accessory even includes a real bell, allowing fans to enjoy the iconic sound from the game even from the Nendoroid!” states the official Good Smile Company page.
Isabelle comes with a few additional accessories that include musical notes, a question mark, clipboard and pen, plus a few different interchangeable faceplates to display different emotions from the game. After fans have given her the expression and accessories they want, they can use the included clear stand to display Isabelle.
The fourth re-release of Isabelle doesn’t come with any additional accessories. She will be released exactly the same as the previous three released of the figure.
Isabelle can currently be seen in Animal Crossing: New Horizons, which was released on March 20. The amount of appearances she makes in the game depends on how far the player progresses. Isabelle also has a new outfit in the game. She wears a salmon-colored top with a leaf logo, along with a white skirt.
Preorders are currently ongoing for Nendoroid Isabelle until April 16.
