PlayStation has released their full schedule for September, and all I can say as a gamer is ‘wow’. The amount of games is unlike anything we have seen in a long time. And yes, my bank account has sadly lost the battle to my gaming addiction. Following short and wide months of releases we have been looking for a month that gives us a little bit of everything, and PS5 has it this September, everything from early announced sequels to remasters you didn’t know you needed. Looks like we’re in for an entire month of sleepless nights.
To co ncentrate on the rest of the pays, PlayStation’s official tweet breaks down the entire month, one day at a time. Starting with the already released Metal Eden, we have Hirogami on the 3rd and then Hell is Us and Hollow Knight: Silksong on the 4th (yes, SILKSONG FINALLY). Hot Shots Everybody’s Golf and Cronos: The New Dawn follow on the 5th. NBA 2K26 drops the same day, so if you’re into sports—good news. And this is just week one!
It only improves from there. Borderlands 4 on the 12th, LEGO Voyagers on the 15th, and Frostpunk 2 on the 18th. On the 19th, we get Towa and the Guardians of the Sacred Tree alongside Dying Light: The Beast. Then on the 23rd we have Baby Steps and on the 25th chord, Silent Hill F and Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds, followed by EA Sports FC 26 on the 26th. The month closes with LEGO Party and, wait for it, Final Fantasy Tactics – The Ivalice Chronicles, as well as Alien: Rogue Incursion Evolved Edition on the 30th. And wow.
In that moment, gamers focused on one of the most important games in the list. Final Fantasy Tactics. The one and only Final Fantasy Tactics. The one that has been cut for a remaster for decades. That one everyone has been begging for a remaster of for months on end. As one user, Gregisnowhere, put it, “I have been waiting for an FF Tactics remaster for over 20 years. It has been one of my all-time favourite games ever since I gave it a go on PS1.” The reactions to this were immensely positive, with JmeMc123 replying with a mind-blown emoji. The hype is understandable for this one.
The excitement of players isn’t limited to that news either. The mention of Hollow Knight: Silksong has sparked attention. As a joke, everyone anticipated this game for an outrageously long period, and now it’s truly coming? On the 4th of September? Someone asked if it would be on PS Plus Extra, which is a totally out of place question as it most likely wouldn’t be at launch but who knows.
The Silent Hill F announcement received some attention as well, with users like Tigrevur and Icewallowcumin discussing their plans to play both the SH2 remake and the new F entry. It’s good to see the Silent Hill franchise getting some attention after a long absence.
A few of the users were noticeably less satisfied. Certain individuals had remarked on the list as lacking several games. Joshdachu_ stated “You forget Trails in the Sky 1st Chapter! :(” while BosrelPlays commented “How you going to leave off the only game that matters this month? Trails in the Sky.” Additionally, RuisuKurusu brought up Atelier Resleriana The Red Alchemist & The White Guardian, claiming to have already pre-ordered the game. I guess it’s true that no list can include every game!
There was also some interesting discussion about the month overall. Some users like Shawnsalas17 called September a “relief break month” as opposed to October, “October has way better games coming than this pedestrian month.” However, others countered bdpix69420 saying, “Y’all are sleeping on Everybody’s Golf. Underrated banger in a strong month.”
And then there’s this whole third-party issue. As PSdikrider put it “Not a single first party game on that list,” which is… technically true? But, really, does anyone care when Borderlands 4, Final Fantasy Tactics, Silksong are all coming out in the same month?
Perhaps the most notable parts of the community’s response were positive. Taking note of the usefulness of the calendar, tulechiefin asked, “Can you do this for every month, very informative?” which is a good point—as the calendar simplifies choosing and planning games to play. And GameLaunchRadar then added some self-promotions regarding their service to give release reminders, which, of course, is fair.
An interesting note is the way people are modifying their plans given the hype. While Icewallowcumin states they are looking at “Silksong, BL4 and FF Tactics”, others seem excited about different mixes of the games. It is certainly going to be one of those times where you have to make some difficult decisions on which to play first.
On a similar note – TwanDatDuDe remarked “This month on PlayStation Xbox Switch and PC,” which I think marks the majority of these games as either timed exclusives or console exclusives. Nonetheless, it is very convenient for PS gamers to have all of these games listed in one place.
The community’s only significant complaint seems to be related to the cost. Responding to another user, Laus_IX wrote, “No tienen piedad, ni con nuestro tiempo ni nuestras cuentas bancarias,” which means, “They have no mercy, neither with our time nor our bank accounts” and honestly? Same. For those who want to play every game, this month is going to get quite expensive.
There’s even more to look forward to though. Borderlands and Dying Light are getting new entries, after all, so is the new Silent Hill from hell, along with new IPs such as Hell is Us and Towa and the Guardians of the Sacred Tree, and let’s not forget (almost definitely) Silksong and the long-awaited Final Fantasy Tactics, which was demanded for over two decades.
September is definitely looking to be a month like no other. It’s the kind of month that, perhaps, in a few years, you’ll reminisce and say, “Wow, didn’t all those games release simultaneously?” Losing sleep and losing money in the process, gamers’ backlog is about to get very impressive. It’s a good idea to have some space ready on the hard drive.
