Another hotfix patch got pushed in the late hours of the night with Overwatch tweaks, which elicited pretty much every imaginable mixed reaction below. The patch notes indicate buffs to some heroes and nerfs to a few others. Some changes, depending on whom you ask, are a great joy or utter rage. Does this make one wonder: “Why does DVa get shot the moment she tries to get brave while Genji just bails out?” But let’s get into that later.
Let’s get patch notes! DVa’s Legendary Loadout Power damage was gutted from the whatever it was before right down to 325 percent. So, a big oof for all of those DVa players dependent on the assist burst damage that would guarantee elims. On the contrary, Freja’s So Cooked Power got buffed, and with duration staring at 3 seconds, well, you can pretty much count time in Overwatch as forever. Mei’s Slowball Power also suffered a slight nerf, reducing its slower effect to 15 percent, whereas Juno’s Medimaster Power now has a crit scalar of 1.5. So I guess the healers eat well today?
Anyway, the chaos that is the expected replies to the official Overwatch tweet! Some players decided to really take it too hard. User @tabirain14 screamed into the void: “WHY WOULD YIU RUIN DVAS ONLY GOOD PERKππππππππ” (with all those typos because really, she was in so much pain!). On the other side of the spectrum, @lilacac__ was rejoicing: “Yes Freja needs a buff thank you !!!!” So you win some, you lose some.
Then Juno has the real drama. Oh man, Juno. Players are split as to whether these changes are good or yet another step towards breaking the game into “Stwatch” (that’s Stadium Overwatch for the uninitiated). @Stroz67 ran wild and demanded Blizzard “revert the Juno movement nerf immediately” calling it, “the worst idea you have had in a long time.” On the contrary, @LEGI43ON (display name fully translated to “Hop Misanthrope”βquite a vibe) was just happy it toned down some of the rocket spam: “Thank god no more rocket spam killing in 0.5sec.”
Here’s that Stadium discussion again. Players like @itzsalty are clearly sore: “This game is quickly becoming the Stadium game and I’m about to give up on it.” Others like @ComptePoubOW just don’t give a damn: “Bro nobody cares about Stadium.” However, Blizzard’s starting to care, given how many of the recent changes feel like they’re aimed at balancing that mode for better or worse.
Oh, and the scattering effect. @wuyangmains wants Wuyang (whoever that is), @The_DarkSeraph wants Soldier’s passive damage station nerfed, and @Flyexz wants Sojourn’s 120 damage hotfixed. Just normal happenings in Overwatch.
Real question though: Why does Genji remain untouched? That one was called out by @ValJoeToe: “And genji remains untouched while dva gets another thing nerfed.” The same old story. Meanwhile, Doomfist players are still complaining with @andagainallover saying he’s “so ass right now π.”
So yep, another day again in Overwatch, stirring the community pot. Some players are pleased, some are pissed off, and some are just there for the entertainment. Will this one stay? I’m guessing no. Will we see another round of hotfixes in like three days? Almost on the nose. Welcome to Overwatch, where the balance is made up and the meta doesn’t matter.
