NVIDIA’s latest action has definitely rocked the gaming industry and created a great buzz! The company is running a special giveaway called GeForce Season of Giving and among the prizes is a one-of-a-kind Battlefield 6 GeForce RTX 5090. You are not misreading it – the most advanced 5090 with a Battlefield 6 design! The great green firm’s tweet told gamers simply to reply with “GeForce Season” and give their reasons for being a lucky winner of such an upgrade. The answers were sometimes funny, sometimes desperate and sometimes even quite emotional.
So what is this GeForce Season all about? It is almost a holiday campaign of NVIDIA that is like a presentation of their future hardware in the form of a lovely Christmas tree with a big golden star on top. The RTX 5090 has not been unveiled yet, and so this possibility is even more incredible. It is very likely that we are talking about the most powerful consumer graphics card ever being made together with the Battlefield 6 aesthetics. For computers with old hardware, it couldn’t be better than this: the ultimate Christmas gift!
The reaction to NVIDIA’s tweet indicates that the demand for hardware upgrades is quite high. A guy from Romania with the nickname “Mr. Jesus” shamelessly confessed: “I deserve this Holiday upgrade, so my pc can finally handle some recent games xD” which really?! Exactly my point! Many gamers are reluctant to upgrade to hold on to their old and non-functional hardware that cannot support the latest games, and GPU prices have been soaring due to the high demand over the last few years.
Next is Zach who says: “Geforce Season! I have a very old graphics card I could use a new GPU. Good luck everyone!! Happy Holidays” – well, the grated attitude here is touching even if it is a little bit of a mixed bag with all the desperation. Yet, on the other hand, we have Jackimczuk Joseph who is very particular when it comes to his woes: “My RTX 3050 is growing old on its withering legs. An upgrade is much needed so that I can run Borderlands 4 smoothly and play alongside my brother.” The fact that he mentions brother really “hits differently” though, gaming is a medium that brings people together and this is one classic example.
What people are asking for is really amazing, some have even gone so far as to say they do not require it. Loomir honestly mentioned “I don’t need one personally but I have a friend in mind who could use the upgrade” while BMickle was saying “I would instantly give it to my friend as a present. He needs a GPU upgrade much more than I do!” There is no doubt that the holiday spirit is present here; gamers are unselfish as they look after one another instead of showing selfishness.
However, you do have the absolute heroes like Jacek Szymański who commented “Radeon season 😎 I don’t deserve xd” – that is exactly what I call a competitor who comes to NVIDIA’s party promoting the competition yet still getting involved. The confidence in this case is quite admirable I must say.
On the other hand, there are also the creative ones coming out of the woodwork. Cozy put it this way, “I’m starting to dabble with modeling, making games, and my previous ui design and art plus video editing that require a pretty good gpu,” meaning all the content creators are the ones who need the horsepower most. John Insanity Kennedy was of the same opinion since he asked for the same basic requirements of VRAM and GPU power for his creative flows.
Next comes pure humor like The Driver who performed “What I want for GeForce Season, by Ralphie Parker” that was an allusion to A Christmas Story. Or Brian McEwin who simply said, “GEFORCE SEASON I need it for Dorky Nerd Stuff Duh” and attached a picture of his rig. I guess no explanation is needed!
But some of these claims are really heartwarming. Lethally Blind Gamer said: “I would like to win because I never win anything and my kid would get a very big upgrade because they would receive my current card and that would be a big upgrade for both of us” – this is like a parent thinking child’s gaming experience which is quite wholesome. IIIXCTY even mentioned trying to help their mom who is “kinda homeless” while also wanting to “support the bros better in REDSEC and bring home dubs for the holidays” – the mix of hardships and gaming priorities is very modern day gamer.
The types of upgrades people are looking for are really all over the map. Some users still have GTX 970s, 1060s, 1070 Tis, and so on and even a 3060 Ti which according to Jack is “struggling.” Man, if a 3060 Ti is struggling what hope do others have, especially those on PlayStation and Xbox consoles?
