Just after Nintendo of Japan launched a sweepstakes, offering a 2-hour mobile game party for a max of 15 people, the world remains angry about the absence of a Nintendo Direct announcement. The #MyNintendo Switch 2 Party with GameTruck contest finally went live today, allowing players to get a chance at winning a mobile game party from GameTruck. And the comments all show chaos.
Within minutes after this was announced, in came the desperate cries from the users who wanted Nintendo Direct information – “WHERE’S THE NINTENDO DIRECT ANNOUNCEMENT?!” To which the reply was, “Girl nobody cares we want the direct announcement now.” The prize itself got mocked with one comment going “lamest prize ever” and the other chiming in “Is it 80 bucks per hour?” Ouch indeed!
Different users were trying to discuss some calming points. According to user AhYujin4, the Direct announcement was going to happen tomorrow. Another user, Ashton68781988, said in enticing terms, “It coming on Wednesday or Thursday!” But we’re going to be honest: no one gave either of them any credibility. The desperation was palpable as one was even begging for Switch 2 achievements.
And then there are those who continued to comment on the sweepstakes. User ivan_salas_ii posted a photo of a GameTruck in his city, as if tagging some rare Pokémon. And then we have neverfear, fully in wishlist mode, requesting Mario Party board creators as well as Mario Kart level designers, as if Nintendo was taking custom orders.
The weirdest tangent? A random crypto post for Injective’s Mainnet Beta EVM upgrade. How did this end up here? Someone might have lost their way to Coinbase Twitter.
With this, Nintendo has maintained deafening silence over the Direct rumors. Players till now have been loud and clear—the truck party is not on their wishlist. What they want are updates on Metroid Prime 4, news on Zelda, and anything else in the pipeline.
Anyway, free game parties is your thing? Go ahead and apply. But if you are in the “announcing Direct already” tribe, then it pays to spend more time freshening up that Twitter feed.
