Nintendo tweeted that Hungry Lumas need Star Bits, and honestly, it is quite wild how much of a discussion this very simple post generated. The official account of Nintendo tweeted cute reminders that the cuddly star creatures are hungry, adding a link to the Super Mario Galaxy 1 + 2 bundle on Switch. The replies… I swear, the replies are something.
Let’s lay it bare from the beginning. They are marketing the Super Mario Galaxy bundle, which includes the two games from the Wii days, now on the Switch; those lovely space escapades where Mario hops from one small planet to another and collects star bits. And yes, feeding those hungry lumas is the next step in their adventure. That is just pure Nintendo charm.
Response-wise, the players mix everything up. Some are completely into it. Daryl replied, “I picked up this bundle yesterday. It’s fun.” Pretty vanilla, right? Then some are like Jim, who is torn between this and Final Fantasy Tactics, which is really… buzz. That’s a hard choice.
Then comes the nostalgia crowd. Alejo Dominguez shared a heartfelt memory: “I remember once when I was playing with mom on Super Mario Galaxy and Super Mario Galaxy 2 on the Wii, we had to feed Hungry Lumas with Star Bits, man, that was insane for us for our nostalgia!” This is what it’s all about: games bringing families together and creating memories that last for years. It is wholesome content.
What about those who start complaining about price? Of course, they’re there. Jazc007 ranted about “Hungry board of shareholders and corporates need more money,” with hashtags like #StopTheGreed and #DropThePrices. Then Gnarfledarf bluntly said, “With your current prices, I won’t be able to feed them anything.” Oof. Harsh.
Those hefty price debates quickly got heated in some threads. HogeezHoagies was of the opinion that “These remasters are not worth double the asking price of the original games” whereas the others defended the collection. TheReal2036 then responded with,”for new players with switch 2s only I wouldn’t say it’s a scam, a bit overpriced yes for two old games but it’s good and important that they get to enjoy these two great old games.”
More mentions of Switch 2 kept on popping up. Lost was asking for “Nintendo switch 2 achievements please” which… yeah, that’s a whole different conversation. Meanwhile, a Spanish-speaking user commented “le quitaron el IIiIIiIiiiiiiIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII!!!!!!!!!” which, according to Google, means “they took away the IIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII,” and I have no clue as to what it means, but it’s got the energy.
Praise was also made for the assist mode. GamersReckoning posted: “My 4 year old is playing this stage and loving it! Also thanks for the assist mode or I would be restarting every five mins lol.” And that’s actually pretty great – Nintendo making these classic games more accessible for younger players. That’s a definite win.
Before long, other random demands sprung up. DXB-KNIGHT wants more JRPGs from Monolithsoft, somebody else wants Luigi’s Mansion as the GameCube game of the month, and Stellifera Rosie thinks “A Hungry Luma jumbo plushie would go HARD” which… honestly? They’re not wrong. I’d buy that.
The whole thread is this weird mix of pure nostalgia, genuine excitement, pricing complaints, and random demands. It’s like the entire Nintendo fandom condensed into one Twitter conversation. Some people are just happy to have these classics available on modern hardware, others are mad about the cost, and then there’s everyone in between.
The interesting bit is how much discussion these 2007 and 2010 age games are drawing even to date. Super Mario Galaxy games would have been revolutionary when released; gravity-based platforming, orchestral soundtrack, creative level design, to name a few. They’re pretty well holding up, at least; hence, probably the reason these folks are still very passionate about them.
The bundle is very good for anyone who has never played these on Wii or simply wants to play them again in better resolution. Both games for one price, controls upgraded for the Switch – it’s convenient. Though I get why some would feel it’s a bit too much for an old game.
On another note, it’s just plain Nintendo power: re-releasing their classic games, stirring up excitement and controversy, and giving players another chance to feed those hungry lumas. Whether you’re picking it up for the first time, or reliving a few childhood memories, the Super Mario Galaxy bundle is definitely making some noise. And judging from the replies, people have tons of feelings about it.
So yeah, if you got a Switch and some dollars to spare, feed some lumas. Or don’t. But the conversation about these games has gotten louder after all these years, hence speaking about the quality. The actual experiences of the games are pretty magical notwithstanding all the pricing debates and random demands. I better get on and figure whether that jumbo Luma actually exists or not. Switch 2 and PlayStation fans might have different priorities, but this bundle is making waves.
