And so since its word, Nintendo really dropped some bomb things about their Switch 2-and not again some rumblings coming from some skeezy dude on 4Chan. No, it’s all from the mouths of developers in a new “Ask the Developer” interview. And lemme tell ya, they are not kidding.
“Everything was redesigned in the ground up.”
That’s the big quote. Like everything. Not a slight upgrade, and not slapping a better hardware inside the same shell. Nope. They are into all-out reinvention. Which honestly? Pretty terrifying but also so exciting.
Originally Switch is already a beast-from being portable to a home console-is the hybrid king indeed all that. But now? They talk as if they are building an entirely new beast. No half measures. No “let’s just add 4K and call it a day.” There is complete rebuilding.
And don’t start breathing into a paper bag – they haven’t BSed dropping specs or the launch date. This is classic Nintendo: starving us for crumbs. But the fact that they’re talking about it openly like this? Means we are close. Next year is going to be wild-close.
And honestly? Makes sense. The Switch isn’t even that old, what, seven years? Time changes fast in tech. Even though the OG Switch was a miracle back in its day, miracles still need to be refurbished. Faster load times, better graphics, maybe-no more Joy-Con drift? (A gamer can dream.)
Now the big question: what exactly does it mean to be “from scratch”? New type? Backward compatible? A built-in toaster? (Okay, probably not that last one.) But if they are actually doing that with everything, and totally rebuilding, well, this is actually looking really wild.
Well, all we have are speculations and a lot of hype for now. But hey, at least we know that they are trying. And after the success that Switch is? They hold every reason to go great.
So who is budgeting already?
(And if this thing doesn’t come with a proper virtual console installed, we are not going to riot. It will happen.)
