Nintendo Announces Next Super Smash Bros. Ultimate DLC Character To Be From The Cast Of ARMS

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate has a massive roster consisting of everyone who has ever smashed before. But just because it has so many fighters doesn’t mean that Nintendo is about to stop adding new ones! To kick off the new Fighters Pass, Nintendo has announced their newest DLC fighter – well, sort of.

The exact fighter hasn’t been announced, but we know it’ll be one of the stretchy members of the ARMS cast. If you aren’t familiar, ARMS is a fighting title released for the Switch back in 2017. It features a cast of 15 different fighters, each with their own unique equipment of ARMS, which they typically use to attack their opponents in a stretchy manner.

The fifteen possible characters are included in the tweet above, and consist of the following 15:

  • Spring Man
  • Ribbon Girl
  • Ninjara
  • Master Mummy
  • Min Min
  • Mechanica
  • Twintelle
  • Byte & Barq
  • Kid Cobra
  • Helix
  • Max Brass
  • Lola Pop
  • Misango
  • Springtron
  • Dr. Coyle

Some of these characters are already in the game in the form of Spirits for the Spirit Board. While we don’t know exactly who they’ll add, there are some that seem more likely than others. Spring Man and Ribbon Girl are often used as the face of the game, for example, though Twintelle made her away around the internet as a popular character for a good amount of time as well.

It seems unlikely that it’ll be Byte & Barq, as there are already several partnerships as a single fighter in Smash. Between Duck Hunt, Banjo & Kazooie, and Ice Climbers (and technically Pokemon Trainer as well) it seems unlikely that they would add a fourth, especially as a paid DLC character.

Then again, Byleth was the seventh Fire Emblem character and there are eight Pokemon fighters (ten if you count each Pokemon Trainer fighter) so Nintendo probably isn’t too hesitant to add another partnership just because there are a few others.

What’s more, the recent announcement has reignited the constant “Put Waluigi In Smash” meme that seems like it’ll never die. There’s been an assumption among the fanbase that Nintendo would never make someone who was already a trophy into a full fighter, but that could be debunked depending on which ARMS fighter ends up joining the roster. If that’s debunked, then the biggest reason not to add Waluigi is as well. Plus, Waluigi has stretchy arms as well, which apparently serves as definitive proof that he can be added onto the roster.

Whoever gets added, we’ve got plenty of fighters on the way with this new pass!
