There is yet another reason for PlayStation Plus subscribers to open up Fortnite—The Emerald Gamer Pack will somehow stir feelings of confusion and appreciation. The bundle gets you the Sage Outfit (along with a LEGO® Style variant), the Silver Mind Back Bling, and Sage’s Snap-Axe Pickaxe. Some players are cheering, while some… well, let’s say there is minimal confetti involved.
At the heart of the controversy lies the Sage Outfit. Some players are literally calling it “ugly asf” (thank you @RaZe_wolf2 for such a poetic criticism) while many others are upset that the skin is locked behind a PlayStation Plus paywall. “@NotAlex016”: “I waited so much time for this skin only to find out it’s a PS+ exclusive… bruh💀.” This sting of exclusivity is a little too real, especially considering that an Xbox or PC player cannot get it unless he gets himself a PS Plus subscription.
Then there are the people who claim it “doesn’t even look like a PlayStation skin.” @Skullty397 states that recent PS Plus packs have drifted away from the classic PlayStation aesthetic, and honestly? Not totally wrong. The emerald-green-and-silver vibe of this set kind of sounds like it’s trying to emulate an Xbox promo more than it’s trying to be in line with Sony’s blue brand, with @warningYays humorously saying, “More of an Xbox skin than anything,” which—ouch.
But, you know, an angry mob is very much not the entire population. @Aidanhihi says to “archive the skin and just use the pickaxe or back bling for something else.” Wise words. Most might even consider the short life span of the pack (until September 23rd, 2025, according to @iFireMonkey) as a reason to pick it up.
Then, of course, it brings one to a big question: Where are the emotes or contrails? @jurassicera123 is really putting on the pressure because a few extra flairs would have made the package a lot easier to swallow for the nay-sayers. But where’s Clyde? Shout out to @Freddy1565 for demanding to know that.
After all, this pack embodies a “win some, lose some” kind of thing. PlayStation Plus subscribers get freebies (again), while others brazenly sulk on the exclusivity front. With leaks indicating more skins, perhaps the next batch will win the haters over, or, y’know, start a whole new round of drama. Either way, it’s as unpredictable as the collaborators and Fortnite.
So, how about it? Spin that Sage Outfit around the avatar or into storage? Either way, the Emerald Gamer Pack is here and practically begging to be talked about. And isn’t that what Fortnite is the most famous for?
