There has been a lot of talk about Crystal Dynamics’ upcoming Marvel’s Avengers game. With San Diego Comic-Con in full swing, and Marvel releasing a ton of news over the past few days, the Avengers video game has been a major focus at the event.
Not only did the development team show off a bunch of new footage during their panel in the famous Hall H, attendees have had the chance to get hands-on with the game, and so far the response has been overwhelmingly positive. Unfortunately, aside from a tiny bit of leaked footage that hit the internet a few days ago, the rest of us have to wait in order to experience the game for ourselves.

Luckily, though, we won’t have to wait that long to see all of the gameplay from the SDCC demo, as Crystal Dynamics have confirmed that the footage will be publicly released shortly after Gamescom, which is coming next month. Not only will there be gameplay from the demo, we should also be seeing the footage of the Avengers in some of their unlockable outfits. Marvel and Crystal Dynamics showed off some of the costumes available for Hulk, Thor, and Captain America during the event.
One of the bigger announcements was the reveal of a special Captain America statue that will come with the collector’s edition of the game. The statue is a beautiful-painted and highly-detailed sculpture made by Gentle Giant Studios, a company that is well-known for their impressive Marvel collectibles. It stands at a full 12″ tall, and features Cap standing on a stone pillar, complete with an inspiring engraved plaque. Not other details were given about the collector’s edition, though pre-orders will begin sometime later this year. Check out the shot below:
If you are somehow unfamiliar with Marvel’s Avengers, the game is a third-person story-driven action game that allows players to take on the role of a variety of different Avengers. The entire main roster is at your disposal as you tackle story-based missions and open-world missions, upgrading your Avengers and unlocking new content.
The game also features a massive multiplayer component, where up to four people to play through various environments and missions together, customizing their heroes to their liking through skills and outfits. Crystal Dynamics has stated that they want the game to have a long life-span, and are going to be releasing free content for years to come. The content will include new missions, areas, and storylines to play through. The team has also promised that there will be an “ever-growing roster” of heroes, so we can expect to see some cool team-ups along the way.
Marvel’s Avengers is set for release on PS4, Xbox One, PX, and Google Stadia on May 15, 2020.
