NBA 2K 2.0 has just been released, and the gamers just aren’t happy. The official NBA 2K Twitter posted a graphic featuring a few of the updated OVRs of upward-moving, climbing players, and the answer was: mere chaos. The absence of Jordan Poole was being hotly debated while other members were confused about Kristaps Porzingis’ position-whether it’s divided between those factors or those outraged.
Starting off with maybe the hottest issue: the absence of Jordan Poole. One player named Serenity commented that Poole’s stats were on par with White’s, at least in terms of major categories, yet White gets ranked at #65 while Poole gets nothing. The comment was “Proof of your bias against Jordan Poole,” and that began a whole thread of argument. People like xdslg jumped back with, “Coby White has improved, Poole has not.” Ouch.
Now, Stephon Castle and Deni Avdija being rated the same shook 3ringNBA, aka Trevor Scarleta: “Stephon Castle ranked the same as Deni Avdija, I laughed.” Meanwhile, Jason Cigan came up with reasons and stats supporting that Avdija is overrated; Malik Nabers responded, “That’s because he’s a better defender, dunker, and passer than both of them. Ratings aren’t based on box scores, egg.”
Not to leave out the disrespectful comments. Dyson Daniels, to be considered the second Defensive Player of the Year, Most Improved, has dropped down to 83 OVR. “How y’all let Dyson not be like an 84-85?” Mhxgic basically asks; while Porzingis gets dragged along: “How is Porzingis in 53?”
Not all gamers are angry; they’re just baffled. Eamer also commented on the irony in the tweet: “‘Climbing up’… The higher ratings are at the bottom.” WHARKNUT was confused about why “New Jersey” got capitalized in a reply: “Like the state is involved.”
“Where’s my guy?” comments, of course, go unsaid. “Where my boy Jakob Poeltl ???,” asked Cylian Lafourcade, while delarulez demanded, “No Ivey? 2K tripping.” Kyle Davis threw a roaster: “Idk what’s more disrespectful. His rating or his face scan.”
Anyway, NBA 2K ratings are meant to be debated, and the game would be pretty boring if they weren’t. Whether you agree or think they’re complete rubbish, one thing’s for sure-the community won’t be silent about it. Honestly, that’s what makes these reveals so much fun. Now, if you’ll excuse me, we’re going to seriously debate whether Tyler Herro is really a 95. (Spoiler: Probably not.)
