MSI teased something crazy at a booth, and honestly, the internet exploded with excitement. There was this special edition graphics card on show and it was termed something like Midnight reveal?? And here is the part that is making gamers pick one side between VOID and LIGHT. Literally, one’s side choice dictates their destiny or something. That’s heavy stuff for a graphics card launch, man.
The MSI Gaming Twitter posted a shot of the enigmatic card and captioned it with “The Void is spreading…”. Could be some new game, or it could just be some edgy marketing. There’s a link to go enter with comments instructing you to pick a side with either #MSIxMIDNIGHT+#VOID or #MSIxMIDNIGHT+#LIGHT. The replies are just going insane.
Suddenly the comment section became a battleground between the Team Void and Team Light almost on the spot. “#MSIxMIDNIGHT + #VOID Voted for Void,” said one of the first, SordaciusTest. Then JohnHiro002 joins in “#MSIxMIDNIGHT #VOID Void looks so cool.” I mean yeah, obviously the dark side is always cooler, lets be honest.
In the meantime, @glammma is going unusually pro-Light “#MSIxMIDNIGHT #LIGHT” -what a brave soul picking the Light side when everyone knows Dark has the better aesthetic. The replies have gone into chaos with people fighting for their choice, some with completely random emojis like @HUGOPIMPAM with “#MSIxMIDNIGHT + #LIGHT” combined with turtle and lightning bolt emojis?? Eh, ndk now what’s that supposed to mean but okay.
It’s fun because quite a lot of people there are just spamming for Void support. @KIARASAUCO has posted three times in a row with #VOID plus some dolphin and dog emojis in one. Go all out, then. Meanwhile, @thelost198 keeps it going for LIGHT with multiple posts and wolf emojis?? It’s really beginning to get into some weird emoji warfare between the factions.
But then always that one person that brings up the real, hard questions. “@Teveshszat said ‘Nice, but will it be affordable, or one more price hiked card most people can’t afford?'” OOF! Right in the feels, it is! Because, seriously speaking, a special edition graphics card usually equals the cost of your entire rent. No word from MSI about price yet, but… we all know how this usually goes.
The whole thing is giving me major “choose your faction” vibes like in those MMOs where you pick between two sides that hate each other. Except instead of getting cool armor you get… a graphics card? I mean still pretty cool but like what does picking a side actually DO? The tweet says “your choice will decide their destiny” which is vague as heck. Are they gonna make different versions based on which side wins? Or is this just engagement bait??
Void looks like it’s winning at a landslide by the responses. Almost everyone is tagging Void except for a few Light followers. Which seems fair since “dark and edgy” always win in gaming aesthetics. Sign me up for the Black and red color schemes. Although the Light guys might have to rock some better white and silver colors, so there’s that.
MSI has done special edition cards before, but this whole interactive “choose your side” thing is a new concept. On timing, though? Graphics card prices have been absolutely ridiculous this last few years, so dropping a special edition now is either a brilliant time to strike or the worst. But gamers love limited edition, so they’ll probably fly off shelves in seconds, no matter the price.
The bigger question remains what this MIDNIGHT reveal actually IS. Is it a new card entirely? Or just a special version of an existing one? The tweet says “special edition graphics card” but that is quite vague about which one. Could be their 40 series, could be something new?? The ambiguity is killing me.
And what’s up with the whole Void vs Light theme?? Is this tied to a game? The phrasing “The Void is spreading” sounds like it could be from some RPG or something. But MSI does collabs with games sometimes so maybe this is part of a bigger reveal. Or maybe they just thought it sounded cool.
Attracting the attention from all sides, there are hundreds of responses flooding the channels from passionate users who want to choose sides. Some respond with just tag names, some explain why they are worth picking, and others use random emojis probably meaning something for them. The gaming community really loves this kind of interactive marketing which makes them be a part of the journey.
I’m curious to see how this plays out. Will MSI actually make different versions based on which side gets more votes? Or is this just to build hype for a single product? When they say “your choice will decide their destiny” – like what does that MEAN? The fate of fictional characters? The design of the card? The marketing team deserves a raise for getting everyone this invested in what’s essentially a graphics card reveal.
At the end of the day though, we all know the real question isn’t about Void or Light- it’s about whether any of us can actually afford this thing when it drops. Special edition usually means premium price tag. But hey, at least we get to argue about which fictional side we prefer while waiting to be priced out of the market.
When the reveal comes, it’ll have to be soon, considering how they’ve been building hype. And you know the gaming community will be focusing on which side “wins” this weird social media battle. Personally, I am Team Void because black components look better in my setup. But I have got to give a shout-out to all those holding down the Light Team against all odds. May you all have high frames and low temps no matter which side you picked.
