Well, well, now we have some possible acci-mortal confirmation for the remastering of the OG Mortal Kombat trilogy? A sudden appearance of a PEGI rating item under the title Mortal Kombat Kollection Online popped up-and-bruh.
-Now, the listing clearly states that “upgraded art, improved gameplay, and online features” will be placed on the original three games (MK1, MK2, UMK3), and more? “Not to ask, but YES, it’s allegedly coming out on PS4, Xbox One, Switch AND PC.” No more digging out your crusty-ass PS1 discs just to get that pixelated nostalgia fix.
And now, here’s the spicy part: This could very well be that remaster that was shelved last year. Y’know, the one Warner Bros. cancelled because they didn’t feel comfortable with Blind Squirrel Games, the guys working on it, having the franchise? The very guys who helped with Bioshock Infinite and Borderlands 2?? I mean, really?
But then again-why now? Maybe ka-ching! After all, MK11 is still doing really well with its DLC (Joker drops next week, btw), the new live-action movie recently wrapped principal shooting, and there’s an upcoming animated Scorpion movie. WB is clearly investing heavily in MK hype, so one might as well expect a drop out of nowhere?
There’s not much word from the official side, yet one thing is for sure-PGI can not just put a rating on a game that exists in the realm of imagination. Sooo… grabs popcorn
In any case, if that actually goes down, I will 100% be playing Reptile again, just to spam acid spit like it’s 1995. Who’s in?
(And Ed Boon-If you read this, go on, tweet a goose emoji or something. We will decode it.)
