The famous Capcom has launched the two new AI characters in their game Monster Hunter, which players have already been analyzing over the position of the squad. The official Monster Hunter account announced the arrival of Griffin, the great sword user from the Ferrum Unit, and Nightmist, the light bowgun user from the Aurora Unit. These are the latest game updates where the hunters are given the freedom to select their hunting method when they don’t want to interact with, you know, people.

The first question is who these two actually are? To the newcomers in gaming who are witnessing this, support hunters are companions controlled by AI which you can take along on your quest. They will not replace your friends, but they will offer strong protection during single-player games when you are waiting for others to respond to your SOS flare. The community’s reaction was instantaneous, with some players even trying them immediately.

One gamer, nicknamed BjarniThBj, was very quick with his feedback and said, ‘Did go with Nightmist and she is pretty solid! Griffin is good too.’ This impressions are great as it indicates that the new AI partner is capable of dealing with a giant monster like Gogmazios. Another player, MaddieNDavid, on the other hand, was able to point out their differences: ‘Griffin is perfect for cutting tails !!! ♥ very helfull. & Nightmist good for buffs and heals. 👍’ So now Griffin is the one to sever those hard-to-reach parts while Nightmist is the one to stay back and heal and buff you so you can stay in the fight. A classic tank-and-healer duo, but in the world of monsters.

Not every gamer is thrilled about the AI helpers. One of the players who called himself Necrosslol made an official request: ‘Your honor I would like to ask for completely disabling support hunters, even in Gogmazios (except our lord and savior Fabius).’ It is a powerful statement. There are times when you just want a pure hunt with no interruption, right? An AI character roaming around could disrupt your hunting style. This post opened a debate among the commenters about the usefulness of support hunters. One of the users, splinterhood, replied to a question, ‘Not really needed, but I think newbies to the franchise require them for some reason.’ This is somewhat true! They serve as a good safety net for the inexperienced.

The announcement brought about a very confusing question to new players, particularly TH3MAF1A: ‘I just started this game—what are support hunters?? You have AI companions with you?’ What started off as a question, soon turned into a tutorial, where users like BasketCh4s3 guided the new player on how to enable the support hunters in the quest settings. That’s wonderful that the community is always there to back you up. Another user, strafeapp, gave a simple yet very apt summary: ‘new to mh huh support hunters are dope ai pals that back u up in fights nightmist looks sick try em out and have fun bro.’ Couldn’t have said it better!

The names also caught some attention. TheFloundrr made a joke, ‘Nightmist? Sounds like something from Elder Scrolls.😆’ At the same time, player drugomasala was really concerned with localization and was wondering, ‘How the fk is nightmist translated in Luna in Italian?’ This is not an unfounded concern for our Italian hunters!

On the other hand, during a Monster Hunter update, players forget about the changes and ask for more. There were lots of requests from players in the comment section. Many users, among them chillinskey and thethirdniko, were pleading for the opposite thing—’Let me layer over akuma’ and ‘Do not let MHD layer over akuma.’ The layered armor issue is real, guys! And then fixchargeblade was enthusiastic and shared his weapon story: ‘fix the charge blade, SAED is clunky to use and impact is dead, charged sword has 0 use, the counter aspect of the weapon is dead and sword mode is a waste of space in the ui.’ Ouch! Someone has had a tough hunt.

Oddly enough, a very particular canon argument arose. User Ethwal_666 wrote,’Now put in a swordman and an archer. These characters would blend in well, though mhrise isn’t canon.’ Another user, VoidParadox2021, was quick to counter this and asked where the information was coming from. Ethwal_666 then explained, saying Rise ‘wasn’t released by the main team, and it’s a spin-off game.’ Whether it’s true or not, it’s a hilarious aside in a thread about the new AI buddies.

So what will be your final verdict? It seems like Griffin and Nightmist are a great addition, especially for the hunters preferring a more controlled or supportive experience on PlayStation and Xbox.
