This set of quest activities recently went live, and before long, players began rushing off to kill monsters and snatch that gear. In the “A Vile Visage” event, hunters are selecting an Alpha Doshaguma for slaughter, and the rewards are pretty sweet.” This is a limited-time venture, so if you want to get your hands on this dreadlocked-looking Doshagumask, you’d better hurry.
Now, what do you have to say about an Alpha Doshaguma? For the somewhat uninformed in extended Monster Hunter lore, Doshaguma is a bear-like monster that has been taking center stage lately, along with some recent press towards Monster Hunter Wilds. It’s basically the barbarian kind of vibe the players are picking up on. So now with the capture of the Alpha, you can craft a mask that is basically just putting on its face. Pretty cool, right?
Of course, voices of dissent abound. The comments section on the official Monster Hunter Twitter never disappoints. There are a lot of people really hyped for this one, starting from user ThuperLikeSuper, who says, “This I can get behind.” Meanwhile, David López speaks to a concern, “Broken game, one can only enter at the end of a hunt and receive a lot of material without doing anything.”-Oof-that must take us way back to similar problems in Monster Hunter World, where it still hasn’t been resolved. If one can jump in late and still gain rewards, then, it’s only going to irritate the hunters who put in the effort.
Of course then come the usual gripes: LitePlays is on “Day 51 of asking for a Hatsune Miku collaboration,” which would indeed be wild but is probably going to be a “no” anytime soon; Noah is on “Day 8 of asking to let us edit our characters fully without edit vouchers,” which is a fair complain-the fewer hoops you have to jump through to change your hunter’s looks, the better.
Performance troubleshooting-until now-not going to get less attention either. Yeziaphael had a complaint about Palico taking too long to heal, and Seikret riding said it was awful when you have to make an escape. LikdeesNutz chimed in saying the last big update with new talismans totally reinvigorated their play even though they are hoping Capcom would continue working on the PC platform. So there you have it: while it may be thriving on PC, it’s definitely encountering issues on the console for now.
Let’s just talk about the mask, shall we. Not everyone loves the Doshaguma. Juez Redd calls it the “worst mask ever,” and they state there are cooler monsters that could have been chosen instead. HoloCatHead added, “that is actually a really great idea for a Spark Mandrill cosplay from Mega Man X,” which is a pretty good deep reference, and to be fair, it would work quite well. ProfessionalGhost answered sarcastically, “This, except it’s blue and wipes its butt with toilet paper before throwing it at you.” Yep, the community has a great sense of humor.
Layered armor is actually massive in Monster Hunter, with the community always basically begging for more. DarkHeartsKing: “Can we add two head pieces at once? Like wear glasses and a dragon scarf together,” which sounds like a good quality of life improvement by increasing hunter options for customization significantly. Shonji_Hatake is happy that it will finally complete their Ork layered set to go with their Kriegmen, so really, this is truly the pinnacle of fashion hunting.
The event quest is already live, so jump on it if you’re a Monster Hunter fan and want to add the Doshagumask to your collection. That said, some players suggest there may be an exploit in use, so try not to be that person who’s joining at the last second. Hunt with honor, ladies, and gentlemen. Maybe in the next patch, Capcom will fix some of the issues raised by the community. Until then, happy hunting and may your carves be many.
What was I even going to say? Yeah, the event is going live on the 16th, so do not sleep on it. Also, keep your eyes peeled for any further Monster Hunter Wilds news because I heard it looks insane. Anyway, back to grinding for that mask. Laters.
