Monster Hunter World: Iceborn has been an amazing expansion that made the incredible base game even better. Its icy landscapes, new and returning monsters, and additional content have given players a reason to come back time and time again.

It has only gotten better with time thanks to the regular updates. Like all good things, though, the DLC must come to an end. It seems like that time is rounding the corner as the last update in Iceborne officially launches October 1, 2020.

In anticipation of this final update, Capcom has provided more details on what it will entail. Starting off is the introduction of Fatalis, an elder dragon with a lot of special abilities. They include flaming projectiles and a cloud of flammable dust.

The dragon can reach great distances with these attacks so if you plan on approaching it in battle, proceed cautiously. Fatalis will be available to take on for players that complete the Iceborne story and Alatreon investigation.

In addition to this new monster, players also will be able to enjoy a new quest. It involves an epic hunt against an Arch-Tempered version of Velkhana. This elder dragon already posses incredible ice abilities so it will be interesting to see how players manage the new design. Finally, the fifth major title update is adding new master rank layered armor.

All in all, this update seems like a great way to conclude Iceborne. It has been such an amazing expansion for a lot of players, with ample content to stay busy with. Capcom didn’t have to expend a lot of resources and time building this unique world.

Monster Hunter: World was already an impressive and massive game in its own right. Still, Capcom saw the potential Iceborne had and carried on as to please their loyal fanbase.

That’s something Capcom always seems to come through on. They want their games to provide as much fun and meaningful content as possible, even if that means burning the midnight oil throughout the year.

Iceborne is truly a massive accomplishment that provides endless monster hunting journeys. You can go after old favorites or new monsters that have novel elemental powers.

It’s sad that there won’t be any more major updates for Iceborne, but it definitely has had a good run that both fans and the developer should be proud of. It will be interesting to see what’s next for the Monster Hunter franchise moving forward.
