Well, as the crowd gained knowledge of the changes Title Update 3 was finally set to bring in late September, all the other hinted changes finally laid out in the big Capcom guild report awaited that final announcement by late September, and the crowd went wild. We are not just talking about some really nice little tweaks here; these are serious game-changers. Asking for them since the game started was one of the community’s cries.
As to what exactly is coming, let’s go ahead and unwrap this.
A little more shock can be had here: But finally, Lagiacrus is technically going to Wounded Hollow. You got it wrong. The leviathan of the previous games that the populace loved is getting a brand-new playground. According to the official tweet, its behavior was tuned for the new area, so this is no copy-paste job. There is now a slim chance that Lagiacrus will appear alongside monsters that normally don’t hang out in Scarlet Forest. This is now going to throw wide the gates for some of the wildest encounter scenarios we have seen so far.
Now! Let’s get welcomed with some stuff that are going to make for better hunting! Starts off with the reset of mantle cooldowns as soon as a quest has started. It feels like one of those changes that from the very beginning should have been so obvious. No waiting should be done for mantle cooldowns after the hunt: when the next quest starts, you will be ready to hunt with all of them again. It was very readily accepted by the community; “Mantle cooldowns were a no brainer,” another enthusiast said. This means monsters will no longer actively hunt for your pop-up camps to destroy them. This is going to solve so many of the problems set up for camp in some of the nastier areas. It’s one of those mechanics that sounded great on paper but just proved to be frustrating instead of challenging in practice.
That mostly has been the reception from the Monster Hunter community with the odd few chants for more. That makes for some asking for performance fixes, others elder dragons or paid DLC content. One of them even called for a classic collection of Monster Hunter on PC and consoles—a request we could all back, right?
It’s interesting how Capcom was listening to feedback from the players. The changes, of course, aim right at the pain points the community has talked about since Wilds launched. More so, on top of it all: The team declared in no uncertain terms that they were “committed to listening to your feedback and making further improvements”—surely words one wants to hear from a development team after launch.
For timing, this one is great, as it gives players something to look forward to with the commencement of the fall gaming season. With these changes, Monster Hunter Wilds will become even more replayable than it already was with increased hunt variation, the decrease of frustration factors, and just making the presentation Loom smoother.
Worth it: Wilds apparently boasts the highest player numbers in the history of the franchise, as one Twitter user confirmed, which would, in turn, explain why Capcom is putting so much work into quality-of-life improvements. You have got so many people playing your game; you’re going to want to make sure you’re addressing things that bite into their enjoyment the most.
So, there it is, hunters: Mark your calendars for the end of September. Title Update 3 is shaping up to be possibly the biggest post-launch update for Monster Hunter Wilds ever. There is so much to be excited about while awaiting the new Lagiacrus behavior, monster pack quests, and lots of quality-of-life tweaks. So until then, please excuse me while I go and brush up on some Lagiacrus hunting!
