Update 3 for the game was announced for Late September 2025, adding a really interesting bunch of new 9-Star tempered monsters.

Now let’s get to the meat of the update. Tempered Blangonga, Guardian Fulgur Anjanath, and Ajarakan will be introduced as alternating Event Quests. That’s no ordinary hunts; we’re way beyond top difficulty here. Rewards in the form of Glowing Stones, Heavy Armor Spheres, and Oricalcite are just icing for the hardcore players.

Why restricted to Event Quests, though? The players are at the edge of their seats for this one. Straight questions are being asked: “Why can’t they be added in the monster pool permanently?” DeNeB commented, “WHY ONLY IN EVENTS? and also rathalos, gravios, ebony odogaron and xu wu should be 9 star monsters forever not just for events.” Honestly? They do have a point.

But then again, reactions from the community kind of seem to go both ways. For one, everyone is pretty frickin’ stoked for even harder content. SirDalamadur even said, “FUCKING FINALLY YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS,” which pretty much sums up the hype side of it. Left to the other side, it’s just angry that the rest of the monster roster stays “pointless” for endgame farming.

SundayKnight expressed it well: “Just give every monster a 9 version that can show up in the locales. You need to expand the list of hunts that people actually do so we don’t just spam the same Seregios+ReyDau hunt.” This seems to be the current leading opinion-the players want more variety in what is worth hunting at the highest levels.

Reward structure is just one more hot topic. JoeJoe4224 asked, “Will they finally make it so tier 9 monsters give Hunter Symbol 3s since the players apparently refuse to go down to lower tiers just for those rewards?” However, PSYCHEBASILISK stated that they didn’t like monsters becoming tempered after HR 200 pretty much exclusively, because it stopped them from grinding gear, and that they wish those monsters would drop more extra parts like lower-level monsters.

The tempered system, overall, is coming under a lot of scrutiny. DuaneM07 responded to someone: “It’s sad to see they wasted a great opportunity for an extremely shallow system. It could have been significantly better with a marginal amount of work.” Oof. But yeah… truth? This was very much an opportunity.

Some other people have proposed some actual solutions. Renegated was on an entire conversation about giving purpose to the lower-tier monsters through armor sets focused on specific playstyles, such as poison builds using Rathian armor that would make poisoning monsters more effective and rewarding. That actually sounds pretty dope rather than just making everything hit harder.

Technical issues too have had some spotlight. ManOfSteeeel91 claims that crossplay isn’t working and that they can’t have crossplay turned on right now; it’s annoying since all their friends would be on different platforms. So it’s not just the new content—the existing game does have its issues.

Back to the update! The official website link was updated in a follow-up tweet to show the current Event Quest schedule and details. These new 9★ tempered monsters will be an alternating event, so you have to catch them while they’re around, which brings us back full circle to that “why not be permanent” argument.

In any case, the team did also say that they will be listening closely to feedback on MHWorld and will thus look to further improve MHWorld, good news as users are absolutely flooding with feedback. Taking a look at the replies, it seems the community wants permanent high-level content for more monsters, better reward structures, and maybe some actual set bonuses worthy of different monster hunts.

Whatever the case, new content will be warmly welcomed, especially the challenging ones. But it seems that players are asking for more than a couple of event quests to light up-the entire rank grid needs to matter at endgame. Whether Capcom will answer these remains to be seen, but for now, we can at least look forward to some hot-tempered monsters in September.

Just don’t expect to be hunting them anytime you want-you’ll have to wait for the right event rotation. Yeah, it sucks. But hey, it’s a new challenge on its own. Maybe Title Update 4 will be the right time to get around fixing these. Here’s hoping.
