Mojang released a tempting content update for the Minecraft players to try out, and since then, the community never stopped buzzing about it. The copper golem statue and shelf blocks have entered the Bedrock beta and the preview, and the Java snapshot version will soon follow. So what do these terms mean? Let’s open that up.

Mention first the copper golem. This guy has been a fan favorite ever since he was first seen. Watch him slowly oxidize into a statue as the time goes by. In a cute little way, this animal adds life and then eventual lifelessness to your builds. Now for the shelf block: great for holding decor or for quickly moving items to and from your inventory. It’s basically a storage solution that looks cool.

There was no shortage of opinionated thoughts about the latest additions. Some were excited, such as @BlackB3ar6176 who tweeted, “Finally I can make a kitchen worth building.” The others, however, had something they called “constructive criticism” to offer: @jamesperrott1: “the shelves would look cool if the items were, you know, ON the shelves??? not flying above the shelves??” Fair point, James.

Then it’s still alive and going between Bedrock and Java. “@Equisbos said, “Pero el juega java,” drawing attention to the slow downtime their users have to incur. And @elminehuy said, “‘soon’ for them could mean three weeks or one month.” Mojang’s concept of “soon” has always been a tad… flexible.

There were also those who felt completely lost. @KeifyFmboy owned it: “Mojang I know you’re gonna tell me I’m being stupid but what are these,” while @judah_will68746 questioned, “How do you make the copper golem?” If that gives you some consolation, Judah, we’ve all been there.

And then came the hype reactions, @AxolotlMC_: “This is gonna be GOOD,” and @DreamyMoonGlow: “Ooh la la! Those shelves are most excellent!” Real excitement was in the air.

A couple of other voices did not support the Wit train, @Keurtt: “The shelves are not very beautiful. 😅 But the function is welcome in the game!”, and @MilesJoga: “Make it horizontal instead of vertical!” Mojang should note that.

The best bit? They’re even brainstorming how to use these new blocks. @Re4Jed: “Decoration and looks cool for rims around your house,” and @OccidentalAvian: “They can be powered with redstone, and a connected row of three powered shelves lets you swap your hotbar with the items in the shelves.” That is some big-brain thinking.

So when is the time that Java players can get their hands on this? Unknown. The Mojang tweet, however, says “coming soon”. If that means next week, or next month, is anyone’s guess. But one thing is sure: Mojang keeps upping the ante with these updates to allow players an array of opportunities to showcase their creativity. Judging from the reaction, this is sure to be a super hit.

Well, if it is all right with you, I need to make one kitchen with floating items. Because apparently, that is really a thing now.
