Minecraft has sprung one giant bat of the community challenge, leaving the entire Minecraft community scrambling for copper blocks and pumpkins. The Copper Cape Quest is arguably a threefold challenge: the first step requiring that all players collectively summon a staggering 75 million copper golems between September 30th and October 6th, 2025. If the target number is reached in the game, then the prize shall be distributed to all players in Bedrock and Java; and the light for the next-level transition shall be unlocked for all free. Needless to say, quite crazy, huh??

And what are we actually talking about? Copper golems are summoned by placing a carved pumpkin atop four copper blocks. They roam around randomly pressing copper buttons, which is… rather pointless, but cute. Now multiply that by 75M. That is what Mojang is asking the whole Minecraft community to deliver, and the reactions are flowing in fast.

The moment after the announcement, a wave of questions followed. User ElMinorJs started a huge debate by asking whether it is doable in creative mode or survival. TheCJBrine followed it up by saying, “They didn’t say whether it has to be survival or creative,” which would be great from the viewpoint of people that merely want to make these little copper dudes on a massive scale without having to mine for hours.

ScootZe posed a surprisingly valid question: “What if I use command blocks to place the blocks that summon the copper golem?” JZ3L7 agreed with the idea, stating, “Exactly what I was thinking lol.” So already, the community is looking into automation possibilities, which would make sense when talking about 75 MILLION golems. This is not a small undertaking to be done by hand.

Concerns are mounting while a technical glitch might hinder some players from joining the endeavor. Lex_Lugosi complained, “I would help, but my game crashes every time I try to open it after the update on android.” That sucks in a time-limited community event. Meanwhile, 4EVAREL8 hinted there were hiccups in past events, as he said, “I never got the last copper prize for mining the massive amount of copper that we did.”

The_Danerd proclaimed with pride about having made his help, with a screenshot depicting their copper golem farm while another reported 150k golems had been spawned before his game crashed. So basically, the opposite of what makes an awesome community contest: sometimes, they push the limits of the game.

HungryAmphibia reported that he was two days into building the farms when the 1.19.3 update hit, forcing him to take a break while waiting for Mojang to whitelist his command block setup. Is that funny in a time-limited event? No. And _TheCasualFan_ lamented what cosmetic rewards were being given, asking, “Can you give us a cape that doesn’t make the elytra look like crap?” Which kicked off a full-blown debate on cosmetic rewards. thebluefoxvn shot back, “The whole point of a cape is to look GOOD. Pretty shitty reward if the bland grey Elytra is somehow better than the reward.” I’ll tell you, gamers want their cosmetics to actually look decent-who would have thought!

There’s another problem: thebluefoxvn stated, “Anyone else getting the bug where the golems just…don’t do their jobs? They search chests holding a specific item you give them via the copper chest they spawn on, but they never put it away. They just hold onto it forever until you kill them. Statues don’t work either.” So, if you do summon them, you probably won’t get the behavior you were expecting. Classic Minecraft bugs, right?

Community brainstorm. Cylance12 offered, “Why don’t we create a server where we can farm copper from trial chambers and create a pumpkin farm. And then grind for the copper golems,” while donvuckovic gave more technical advice on using pistons and pressure plates for automation. Honestly, it’s pretty impressive how fast PlayStation players get into engineering-and-solving mode.

Encapsulating the spirit of the entire community, gportalint cried, “The whole community uniting for copper golems—we love it. Time to shine in the Copper Age.” “LET US SUMMON, MY BROTHERS, SISTERS AND SIBLINGS IN THE CRAFT” was asstr0n0my’s right context coating for the energy currently.

Interestingly, this is going to be just one of the three challenges. So even if we hit the 75 million target, there’ll be more coming soon. The pressure is on; the copper blocks stack up, and pumpkins are about to become Minecraft’s most vital resource. The race of 75 Million copper golems by way of huge community servers, creative mode cheats, or just good old survival grind is officially on. Start crafting ’cause that copper cape ain’t gonna earn itself on Xbox.
