Minecraft released a massive Java snapshot update, creating havoc over have to do about the very little changes of copper. The latest preview brings Copper Golem, Copper Golem Statues, Copper Chest, and Shelf Block while having lightning rod oxidation and copper weapons, tools, and armor-for real-this even includes horse armor!
The official Minecraft Tweet came down as thunderbolt into the community, stirring a storm of reactions, suggestions, and memes. Some players couldn’t contain their excitement while others want much more; meanwhile, some are just happy to see that Java is receiving some love.
First comes the Copper Golem-a highly anticipated mob that was up for voting in the 2021 Mob Vote but, unfortunately, lost to the Allay. Here it now is in the snapshot, and with people experimenting with ways to use it already. Immediately after, @RealCreavis demanded more copper variants, item frames, pedestals, fences, and gates included. Meanwhile, @Passport_Guard began begging for diamond horse armor to be made upgradable by allowing it to be turned into netherite on the smithing table.
Somehow, in contrast to @Passport_Guard’s, moods were not very happy. Finally took long enough, stop giving shitrock updates first!” repeated @MineJake_, obviously irked. This was a clear jibe against Bedrock Edition getting features before Java. Straight away, though, @SerraJo44 was clapping @MineJake_ for stating that Bedrock already had some of those features in preview.
Then we have the shelving block, quite the controversial thing. @ChriGartner limned that the look of the Java version is “way more colorful” than Bedrock; meanwhile, @KwakWack swiftly added, “I absolutely hate the look of the shelves.” Well, that’s harsh.
The copper chest was another real hotbed of discussion, with @moodisbrutal suggesting that it should have more storage space than a normal chest and @RealCleora calling for pedestals where weapons and armor could be displayed. And how could we forget @RaysWorks sarcastically scolding the devs for “forgetting to mention the auto-clickers added in-game”?
Of course, some could never resist making some memes. @Archy_Works posted a gif of a floating man flailing his limbs in the air to his knees while captioning it as “Java players after finally receiving the copper golem snapshot,” while @SierraP615 mourned the demise of copper buttons: “RIP Copper Button, we never truly knew you.”
And beneath the humor and applause, you can almost hear thanks being shouted from all around. @TxAggieMc expressed how nightmarish it is that Minecraft is still getting free updates after over a decade: “Still can’t believe I got this game for $20 over 10 years ago and continue to get FREE DLC every year.”
So what will be next? The players have already begun speculation over future updates, some hoping for netherite horse armor (@xcqamsz) and others begging for the option of per-mob griefing toggles (@ItsHaydenTW). And knowing how closely Mojang listens to suggestions, that might very well become part of the game.
For now, the snapshot is already out, and players are busy testing everything from the oxidized lightning rods to copper weapons. It’s about time to get into it for the Java players! For Bedrock? You got the preview!
