Konami has rolled out the latest patch for the game Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater, but the players’ feedback must be a little bit mixed! The patch 1.2.2 has already taken effect, which the developers said includes only “minor bug fixes and adjustments” for the game along with foreign FOX HUNT mode of gameplay. The Sacred Garden, in other words, will be under constant fog and have the new spawn places along with increased weapon damage. However, the comments have revealed that some players are discussing the fog and weapon damage, while most gamers are not speaking about it at all. The players are talking about the performance, or better the absence of it, to be exact.

The patch might seem really nice and fresh; but what is its actual import? If it is viewed from that angle, it is merely the same old patch stuff. A bit here, a little there, and some fixes, more adjustments, and that’s it. the developer’s intent is clearly to up the tension in FOX HUNT which is currently being done through the insertion of fog, repositioning of players, and making the game more atmospheric and presumably more difficult. On the contrary, like a flood, performance complaints have come through from the whole community to the extent that most players are talking about how the game runs. Developers are very much like car mechanics who have performed the patch-up work but the engine still has that strange knocking sound and they have only changed the radio presets.

Now it’s time to go through the comments as they really showcase a variety of emotions. One particular user who goes by the name of Nicckoo19 stated that they had been waiting to purchase the game just to give the developers more time to polish it, but to their disappointment the game still “can’t run at a stable 60 fps on performance mode.” This is quite the significant oof indeed. Another user Rasheeda Burke narrates a tragic tale claiming that they bought the Japanese collector’s edition with the PS5 disc but had to “double dip on PC due to the console’s horrible performance.” And then comes the finishing blow: “And even then on a 5090, it runs like ass.” If even a top-notch graphics card can’t make the game run smoothly, that is a serious issue.

There are performance complaints all over the place. STG_83 begged, “Improve the PSSR implementation and software performance. Or at least provide full VRR 120Hz support so that the constant fps drops to 40 and less can be compensated.” DamageInc35 and some others endorsed him with the last one simply yelling, “PLEASE FIX THE FRAME RATE ON PRO.” A whole discussion has been generated by players talking about what “optimization” means and The_AngryScot and NTPrime are taking positions against each other on the issue of the 60fps cap not being a real optimization. Things are definitely heating up in the responses, folks!

And it’s not only the console users who have performance woes. PC gamers are having a hard time too. WallyWLTN openly wanted to know, “Can any PC players please update me on how the performance is now? Haven’t dared to buy it being UE5 😂. The crying-laughing emoji is quite revealing—the scenario is one of a mixture of hope and pure fear. The Unreal Engine 5 is a beast and it seems Delta is having a hard time taming it. A user going by the name of Faustin even raised a strangely specific but still valid concern saying, “the maps are still split like they were on PS2 for heavens’ sake!” implying that there are deeper structural issues aside from just frame rates.

Then there is the whole story about FOX HUNT. While Konami is making changes to the mode some users think it is already a lost cause. Ayame directly said, “Fox Hunt is already dead the no one is interested in giving us vol. 2″. AlexCorgi1 pointed to the mode saying it was trash and declared, “the frog mode sucks balls. And 3 maps is a joke especially when one of those maps is smaller than my bedroom”. So, it’s clear there is little affection for the multiplayer element. On the contrary ArcadeVodka seems to be asking for a “6v6 mode with reduced TTK,” indicating at least some players still hold the hope for the PvP side.

At the same time tech chaos has been the background for the emergence of the random requests like the one from ArturSitarz for Polish subtitles, which he has a point in his demand. MachMonarch just wants them to “fix the audio / volume.” DrowsyTOTO is all the more confused by the patch notes, asking “why always foggy?? lol”. Concerns are a whole mix but loudly consistent theme is performance issues.
