Konami tossed a bomb on Metal Gear hecklers, or rather opened the window and let out a bouquet with their METAL GEAR SOLID Δ: SNAKE EATER event in New York. All of Day 1 was media and PR, and with day 2 opening to the public, gamer sorties are going to crazy.

The entryway looks like gliding right out from the ending sequence of that game. White petals of flowers all over the places; PlayStation Pros hooked to big monitors. Of course, some People are already starting to ask which model it is. The atmosphere is telling us, What a thrill… Not everyone is thrilled though. Players on social media have side-eyed Konami for putting up an event and not releasing any gameplay footage. Come on guys, this has been enough waiting since the announcement; throw us a bone, will you?

@ajbluepanda is hyped AF going down memory lane with PS2 and has a 9 AM slot booked for play, while others are upset because they can’t go to work. @XeoMafia hits it right: “Damn, why couldn’t it be on a weekend? I have to work 😭”

The event is home to a pop-up shop with limited merch (cue tweets like “someone grab me a beret”); play sessions are booked anyway, but Konami kept the crumbs with some walk-in spots if someone bails. So, if you’re in NYC, want to take a chance, drop by Lightbox at 248 W 37th St before 5 PM. Autographs aren’t expected unless someone does a sneak attack with a Sharpie.

That said, the reactions are a delightful concoction of excitement, doubt, and pure insanity. @leerobi08433142 went full conspiracy accusing Konami of hiding performance issues; @thekingryzin basically said it’s locked behind DLC; meanwhile, @IceKnightK was wondering about “the stink in that room.” Priorities!

And from there, it was all Kojima business—@ZeroTsar threw in the classic line “death to Konami, long live Kojima” because you cannot have a Metal Gear conversation without it, while @MintFantome was swept away by the white petal’s chaos, quoting the tragic themes of the game. That’s way deep for the average Joe.

What to expect? The second day opens for the public; if you are not in New York, the number-one way to sit through the next two days will be refreshing Twitter for leaks. Are we really going to see some gameplay? Will someone try to eat an actual fake snake? Will those flowers permanently turn red for some dramatic effect? (Shoutout to @TheZyiu for that random speculation). Only the ravens know. One thing is certain, though – Metal Gear fans are starving for content, and Konami better come through sooner rather than later before that hype mutates into a full-blown Foxdie outbreak.

For all things happening, those fans will just have to bear it… or maybe just play the original Snake Eater for the fiftieth time. 🐍💀
