The new possible titles for the Marvel Studios ‘Midnight Sons’ project, which were leaked, have ignited a lot of excitement from the fans. The rumour states that the Insider account, which is based on The Hot Mic, has disclosed the group consisting of Blade, Moon Knight, Black Knight, Werewolf by Night, Man-Thing, Ghost Rider, and Wong. The predicted leak has generated heated talks about who is in, who has already been cast, and what the overall treatment of the supernatural side of the MCU will be like.

So this pretty much just popped up on my social media, and there are already war-like arguments in the comments. This is actually the most enjoyable part of any Marvel leak battle. The PowerPoint slide shows seven characters, right? Blade, Moon Knight, Black Knight, Werewolf by Night, Man-Thing, Ghost Rider, and… Wong. Not Doctor Strange but Wong. And that’s just how the situation is; people are going crazy over it.

First and foremost, the main outlet for frustration and disappointment is that Wong is meant to replace Stephen Strange. Hardcore gamers are quite accepting of it. A comment from a user called Nen_User404 reads: “Honestly, it’s good to give Wong some role here instead of strange.” They believed that Strange has been “terribly used” and should, instead, lead the Illuminati. Another user, LUTHF17127, reasoned: “Wong could be join cz he is the new sorcerer supreme.” I mean, that’s canon, so it kinda makes sense? But then there are others, like Shijo Thomas, who just facedesked: “Replacing Doctor Strange with Wong. 🤦🏽‍♂️”. And tiptaptom11 captured the mixed feeling perfectly: “Wong over Strange and I won’t be happy but I’ll still be seated lmao.” That’s the vibe, to be frank. We will complain but still be there on the opening night.

And what’s more, that is not even the MOST contentious viewpoint. The debate on who would play Ghost Rider is complete madness. A user called UrfrenB3nj11 made a dramatic statement: “I swear to God if Keanu Reeves is not Ghost Rider.” Yet again, in a typical twist, someone named Laredo came in and expressed a wish for… Nicolas Cage? That opened an entire thread. People were NOT having it. “Nic Cage is 62 years old,” HoopTalk69 stated. “He shouldn’t be the one to play such roles anymore.” Supe_Enjoyer just said “Nic Cage is way too old.” And Jimbodeanjr stated agreement: “He’s too old.” It’s a whole thing! Some said the old movie was a classic, but the prevailing opinion may be… time for a new rider.

Next in line are the missing ones. A lot of people immediately pointed out the no women problem. “No women? Fake,” commented ksfilipe0. Corcley just posed the question, “Why’s it only men?” Others began suggesting who should be included. For instance, TomislavNikolov and others mentioned Elsa Bloodstone as a candidate, especially after her Werewolf by Night special, HSDXDSupporter is voicing for Magik. And SfilataTutiNoix made a good guess: “Prob gonna add a witch, my bets on Jennifer Kale… and Elsa Bloodstone.” That seems reasonable; the lineup in the comics is more diverse.

And, then the chaotic replies came in. ForEvers2050 just popped in with “No Morbius? 🥺” which, I totally agree with. Someone else asked “Creature commandos?” which is a different DC thing, so get lost. And, of course, there is the usual disbelief about the leak: “The movie will never be made,” declared DamsTrn. And “Seems like wishful thinking. But I’d watch!” from Rob Pollock. That’s the spirit!

However, there are some real talks going on – there are practical problems. sheesh_2505 raised an enormous one regarding the scenario: “Oscar Isaac said he didn’t want to work with Disney again, so Moon Knight in this probably isn’t going to happen.” Yikes. If true, it creates a massive obstacle to overcome for this entire lineup. And the_name_is__A questioned, “But I heard Kit Harington isn’t coming back??” referring to Black Knight. So, this “expected” lineup may rest on some shaky ground.

The whole Wong saga is thoughable, when you really think about it, very interessant. Is it a creative choice or a budget one? As ScarnThaDo put it, “Cheaper and people love Wong.” Could it be both? Benedict Cumberbatch is probably the most expensive Avenger at this point and Wong has carved out quite a niche. The ongoing Marvel discussions show how passionate the fanbase is.
