The shout is out that Daredevil: Born Again is all but confirmed with a second season by Marvel Studios. They’re plumping even further, setting up the highly unlikely option of a third season before tying the bow on the first=””.
Pre-production has already started because filming May begin March 2026 for season 3, so at least two years away. Now that is confidence! It’s a little crazy to put into focus: they are already mapping out Matt Murdock’s future until 2026.
Mixed reactions have made this situation interesting. One side works: hyped to the max. One user noted, “@QgtharoninSaki: Whew cuz deadass I was gonna drop marvel studios like a dime if that shit got cancelled”-same, in all honesty! A great relief to Daredevil fans who’ve been yearning for proper MCU Hell’s Kitchen action!
Another side of this controversy has: Why are some folks wondering so much about the effort Marvel is putting into Daredevil with little to no regard for other shows? @Mutant_Menace said simply, “Why is Daredevil getting all this attention?” which set off a full-fledged debate in the replies.
That comparison with the other Marvel shows is just inevitable. People bring Moon Knight into the conversation and ask why it hasn’t been given the same renewal vibes. “Oscar Isaac doesnt do much campaigning for MK S2”-That is what @Redgerbil5 said, while basically Daredevil cast has been shouting from the rooftops for new seasons. Passion, I guess, really pays?
Then the floodgates opened with theorizing about the show’s quality versus popularity. “Dont give a shit about boxoffice /viewership/streaming subscribers AS MUCH as the actual art itself,” says @VictorKohli1. That is true: sometimes the best shows have never had the biggest numbers, but that doesn’t keep them from deserving it.
From then on started the “Marvel versus DC” conversation, with @mohamedsamy43jf making the valid point that it is downright hilarious comparing Daredevil to The Penguin since they are available on completely different platforms with varying content standards. It is just not a fair fight as HBO Max can take maturity much further than Disney+.
The real cool thing is probably how divided people are about its quality. Some think season 1 was brilliant and can’t wait for season 2 while others are… not so much. @Mutant_Menace said that he doesn’t consider the MCU version to be better than the original Netflix one, while @blazetherogue right away hit back with “Agree to disagree.” The debate is legit and will probably go on endlessly.
Pressure is cast above season 2. Some demands from @QgtharoninSaki:”S2 better be way better the action better be spot on this time . The lighting better be with them neon lights.” And they ain’t wrong. After all the messiness on the reception of season one, however, Marvel has got to deliver big-time.
Let’s talk about how everyone has an opinion about what season two absolutely SHOULD NOT do. @QgtharoninSaki suggested: “I better not see Matt teaming up with bullseye in s2 lol cuz marvel has a tendency to make evil characters have some redemption thing.” So apparently, people want their villains to stay villainous.
These long planning waves are signaling that Marvel has very big plans for the street-level MCU. With Daredevil potentially running through 2026, imagine years and years of Hell’s Kitchen stories. A whole lot of hallway fighting and courtroom drama await.
What really is wild is thinking about how much the landscape of the MCU will change between now and 2026. There will surely be a couple of phases behind us, X-Men will most likely have seen the light of day, and who knows what else. Daredevil will most probably be intersecting with new faces left and right by the time season 3 comes around.
That minimum commitment for three seasons is basically saying that Marvel is setting up Daredevil as one of their Disney+ cornerstones moving forward. They’re not thinking of this as a one-off experiment-one-off series; they’re actually creating this as a proper ongoing series with long-term storytelling in mind.
Probably the best news to ever come for any fan who’s been standing by the character since the Netflix days. More Charlie Cox as Matt Murdock, more Vincent D’Onofrio as Kingpin (most likely), and more gritty street-level action that the original series was so dear for.
The real question is: can the creatives live up to the raised stakes? Touched with highs and some criticisms, season 1 scented with a few, with the prospect of countless seasons ahead, offers them confidence to cast their net fabulously with an extensive collaborative story. No more fretting about the salvation of their money.
This also might mean that they’re going to ramp up cross-promoting Daredevil into other MCU projects. If they are willing to put so much capital in this character, they’re going to ensure they reap returns by having him appear in movies and other shows.
So yeah, brace yourself for a ton more Daredevil in your life. Personally, whether it is good or not depends on how you felt about season 1, but Marvel has made a huge bet on Man Without Fear. Let’s hope that they nail it with seasons 2 and 3.
