Marvel Rivals has just revealed a patch scheduled for September 5 at 2:00 UTC, and as always, the community is already dissecting every bit of it. The patch is said to ‘level up your Marvel Rivals experience with updates and improvements,’ which is, on its own, cool enough, but the fact that there won’t be any server downtime to implement it is truly refreshing. The new patch is particularly noteworthy since it does not reduce server downtime, which is a welcome change.
I strongly suggest taking a look at the replies because the players’ comments are quite insightful. It doesn’t appear as though the players are waiting idly, in fact, they appear to show up to the comment section with their full wish list, and it is quite extensive.
Let’s begin with ranked matchmaking. Prince Vegeta Online, known to the community as Big Dave, clearly had the most to say on the subject. “Fix ranked ! I dunno why u guys gotta make ranked matchmaking so problematic and difficult. U fucking put out a whole math equation video on it ! That should tell u something right there !!” And honestly, the man has a point. Sure
There’s also the issue with Jeff. You know, Jeff the Landshark. The community is… divided. Some players are begging for a nerf. “Pls nerf Jeff” as stated by Adam, very simply and directly. But then you have kirmit on the other side of this shark war, posting a video and demanding “Buff Jeff the landshark!! #reversetherework.” And then Agonize99 has a particularly specific gripe: “Remove Jeff’s ability to swallow his teammates during ult, deadass ruins the fun when u have an upset Jeff.” An upset Jeff swallowing his teammates. That level of specificity is rare in other games.
And the bugs, oh the bugs. CleoKujo is asking about voice lines still being bugged on new maps. zohrafarid3123 just wants Emma’s no-reg E fixed. mmoonstail is practically begging on their knees: “pleeeeese fix mantis please pleeeeeease i’ll do anything 😭.” The desperation is palpable.
There are players already pondering about the later patches. ThatDudeOnEarth for example, is asking the real questions, “Where’s season 4 news.” Tony D, in his excitement, noticed something, “CROSS PROGRESSION IS COMING?!,” which, if true, would be a huge deal to players on different platforms.
Not all people are positive. Niikoskii came in with the doomposting, “The game is dead give it up. Bring back stacking with friends and fix ranked.” Ouch. Harsh. And iSniffPreWorkout thinks the balance team is moving in slow motion, “Y’all are so slow with balancing patches.”
The negative commentary also extends to performance inefficiencies. ChaggerSahil is predicting, “Another 20 FPS DROP WITH THIS ONE 🗣️🗣️🗣️ 🗣️🗣️🗣️.” MikeSkupnjak’s most important question is, “why pc players cant disable crossplay?????????????,” with numerous question marks to show his annoyance.
Even the characters to come in the future are being speculated on, with players like VTuberASMRFan and FR33B44NDZ debating who the next character will be based on data mining. Merc With A Mouth is wondering about the PS4 release date. The community thinks ahead.
So, like I said, you can head over to the patch notes to go check out the changes as they happen, but the real Marvel Rivals story is always in the remarks sections. It’s a bug fix, balance change, and feature request wishlist, and it’s definitely long.
Can’t wait to see what actually makes it to the comments for the update on September 5. I wonder if they’ve nerfed Jeff? Buffed Jeff? Fixed Mantis? Only time will tell; the community is invested, gets angrier or more excited, but loud all the time. They have the energy, for sure.
The plan is to jump back in after the patch drops and you update the game. Players are hoping the issues that they’re yelling about have been fixed. If the issues haven’t been fixed yet, the comments section at the next patch announcement is going to be a hell of a ride. I’m here for it, after all.
