Netease has delivered the first teaser of the Marvel Rivals announcement to bring that early summer merry-go-round and players… well, they’re very emotional about it. The official Marvel Rivals account revealed on Twitter that for the very first time in Season 4, Invisible Woman will have her Azure Shade skin-a beach-day dream come true for all the fans of Sue Storm. The skin will be released from the 18th day of September starting from 7 PM PDT and will last until October 16, giving players a nice window of an entire month to snap up the sunny look. And then they added a line from Sue herself: “I wish Reed were here to enjoy this together; he deserves a getaway as much as we do, if not more!” Relatable, okay, but… Where IS Reed Richards anyway??
Meanwhile, demons can well wait a while, because Sue is about to shine, literally. In my opinion, Azure Shade has her soaking in the sun, rays glistening through her, and honestly? It’s a vibe. But this is where you should have guessed that the Marvel Rivals community had a LOT to say about the reveal; some comments were not about how beautiful those waters really are.
BurningGreymon lost it from the very start over one thing… and it wasn’t invisibility powers. “FEET KMFFGGG BAREFOOT!!! ACK!!! FEEEEEEET!!! BAREFOOT BHDGHHFFUUFFHUFUFUFUFUFUFGUFUFUUGFUFUUFFUFHFUFUFUDUDRURURURFHFUFUFUGUGUFUFIFIRIRU BAREFOOT BAREFOOT BAREFOOT BAREFOOT BAREFOOT BAREFOOT BAREFOOT BAREFOOT BAREFOOT BAREFOOT FEET FEET FEET FEET FEET FEET!!!!!!!!😭😭😭🥵🥵🥵🙏”” So… that happened. And truthfully, this in essence set the tone for the entirety of the comment section, which soon plummeted into a whirlwind of requests, complaints, and a plethora of other players wondering just where Officer Fantastic has been hiding all this while.
The foot chatter began with complaints. Players used the opportunity to express their dissatisfaction with the current state of the game, where _Hidechiyo_ said: “Ranked is a mess, fuck your skins.” Well, yikes… fair? Another player, highafterdeath, vented about penalties in arcade mode: “Why are there penalties in arcade modes like girl no shit I’m gonna go next if I have a useless team that is getting wiped by sweats on the other team.😭 Remove arcade mode dc penalties they shouldn’t exist to begin with.” So, I guess the beach vibes aren’t strong enough to make anyone lay down their matchmaking woes.
Speaking of observations, a very funny one came from user ActIVWitness: “This is just a porn game atp,” which might be a little strong but equally… have you SEEN some of the other skins? At the same time, user german_k_r uploaded a side-by-side comparison of Sue’s pose with a… suggestive picture from another game and captioned it, “Yall not even subtle about it.” So, the devs might be leaning into a certain aesthetic, to say the least.
But not EVERYTHING was chaos and complaints. Somehow, players were excited. RalphSotto74375 put it simply: “I love her hair 😍,” which is a perfectly fair thing to say. “She has the best MVP of em all,” responded lmeloninu, and perhaps it is true-there’s barely any MVP animation more iconic than Sue’s. Then there was anthony_gummy, who proclaimed, “WE WISH REED WAS HERE TOO 😭😭😭😭😭” because, honestly, where is that stretchy genius when you need him?
This reveal sparked some discussions around other missing skins as well. “Cool. Too bad I gave up on buying skins when you decided to never release Cyan Venom,” said Dwapook. LapisBlue14 intoned, “Yall refuse to drop that swimsuit skin for storm,” and gaminwithbarbie begged, “bring psylocke bikini back tooo PLS :(” Apparently, summer skins are a sore subject.
Then little twinflame posed what is indeed a very practical question amidst the chaos, “Is it going to be part of the battlepass or is it purchasable in the shop?” Which… the tweet just forgot to specify, so great question! IM_SH1NY also wondered, “Why did you take away our chrono tokens?” Because maybe if things weren’t treated so lightly…
The most relatable comment probably comes from poorslip, who accidentally positioned himself as the antidote by going off again about game balance: “Dude fuck Angela what were yall thinking giving her this kit???😭 straight up broken” because at any point when there is a gorgeous new beach skin to marvel at, there’ll be a character ruining everyone’s fun.
The reveal sparked several…interest-me-nots in the replies. Hax_SVG got into a discussion about the new Team Deathmatch mode with “LMAO, I’ve not come across a SINGLE player who likes this mode. I think the feedback should be bigger.” Seems like, well… the new additions have not been received well, but maybe for reasons that go far beyond mere cosmetics.
Making demands for more features has also been in full force. Izerinityfn politely said, “Give us cross progression,” as it will forever be a hot topic in today’s multiplayer games.
Basically, the Marvel Rivals community reacting to the Azure Shade costume reveal was… pretty much chaotic, like any other gaming community. There’s excitement, there are criticism, there are memes, there are requests, and then there’s at least one person speaking solely about feet. Probably for a good reason: The costume looks stunning-a perfect mix of summer vacation with a splash of that classy Sue Storm touch. These devs really enjoy their seasonal content, and the community is mostly into it, albeit the community will complain about how much they annoy with the state of the game.
This skin will be up from the 18th of September up to the 16th of October, so you’ve got a full month to decide whether or not you want to be the proud owner of this beach-ready Sue tucked away in your collection. Does it show up in the battle pass, or is it going to be for a separate purchase? No idea! One thing is certain; whatever way this goes, the Marvel Rivals community will never stop talking about it. Now, if a good soul can go on and let us know where the heck Mr. Fantastic befell.
PlayStation and Xbox players are also part of the conversation.
