Marvel Rivals is going to bring us a new patch on November 27th, 2023 at 9:00 UTC that will freshen things up and at the same time will do it without taking offline the servers. Players just have to refresh their game clients to be part of the fun right away.
The official Marvel Rivals account has basically made the announcements, however, the entire gaming community is in a state of hype partly because of… confusion concerning the patch. Although the community reactions are quite varied, there is one thing that everyone can agree on and that is new content always brings something good along with it. Some are looking forward to whatever surprises are coming but others are just expecting to get minor bugs fixed and have these issues that have been haunting the game for a long time finally go away.
Gamers are already on the edge of breaking down because of the server outages problems. A user called Sabre has very clearly said “can you guys fix server issues because there have been a lot of continuous packet losses.” He was not the only one, another user has mentioned that he/she/they is having the same connection problems. Tough luck when you are trying to execute a sick combo and suddenly everything starts to lag and the reaction is slow. This is definitely not a good situation for a top-tier competitive hero shooter game.
In addition to the game lagging, another player was having trouble shooting. A person named Thane simply asked, “Yall gonna fix the god awful performance?” which, oof. That is quite a harsh comment rather than a glowing review. And then there are also complaints about the matchmaking – one user going by the name AsessiinoO said that the quality of the matches “just stays ass and horrible as off right now.” The use of the word “ass” clearly shows how some gamers are becoming more and more exasperated.
But hold on, what was the subject again? Oh, right; the new patch? So, apart from the technical aspects, there is this whole drama concerning limited-time content and battle passes. A few players are anxious about the exclusive skins and items that they may miss out on. One person enquired about the limited-time currency while another one’s complaint was “My head is going to be literally up because of these limited-time units” – even though I believe they meant to say “head is going to explode” but once again autocorrect strikes.
The skin situation is also very controversial. One player named Ari did not hold back: “Can you stop giving skins to the same 5 characters? They are all too ugly and unappealing.” Wow, that is a strong opinion. Meanwhile, another player is pleading for a specific Rocket Raccoon Christmas skin, claiming they would even provide their banking information just to get it. That is a serious commitment!
Moreover, there is confusion over how some events function. One user named meisha inquired whether the login rewards have to be consecutive and what the time limit is, especially since the holidays are coming. That’s a pretty genuine concern – no one wants to lose free stuff just because they’re visiting family for Thanksgiving.
The issue of the battle pass is one that has triggered arguments in the comments section too. Some players seemed to think that certain passes were exclusive, but others pointed out that the developers were never clear about that. One user clarified: “The pass was supposed to come back in the future when it was released in S1… it was never exclusive.” So, that’s good news for anyone who missed the first time around.
Character balance is always a controversial topic in any competitive game, and Marvel Rivals is no exception. People are engaged in discussions about symbiote characters with one of the talks focusing on the fact that Carnage and Venom have completely different personalities and fighting styles even though both are symbiotes. Someone referred to Carnage as “way more feral & evil, makes you wants to stand behind Venom for protection.” That is actually a pretty neat character distinction if you contemplate it.
New features are also requested like mouse and keyboard support on PlayStation with input-based matchmaking. That is becoming the norm in cross-play games these days, so it is quite logical that players would want it in this game too.
And then there are the random bugs – one player said the random skins feature “isnt worsking correctly” (another autocorrect moment there) and someone else was bewildered about invisible mines on webs. The community seems to be a little helper in distinguishing what’s intentional and what’s actually broken hence the “helping each other out” perspective could be viewed as wholesome in its own way.
You could still catch the players speculating on future characters while debating the ones that have been mentioned like Werewolf by Night and Vanguard as possible additions. The players’ early thought on who they want to see next reflects that there is still a good deal of excitement around the future of Marvel Rivals. The new patch coming, and Xbox Crocs are also making waves in the gaming community.
