Marvel Rivals is teasing a truly wicked first look at what appears to be a symbiote-ified Thing on the MVP screen, and players are literally going crazy. The leaked screenshot by RivalsLeaks shows Ben Grimm, or The Thing, dipped in what looks like the classic Venom black goo, with the horrible white eyes and jagged teeth. And yes, just by its description, it’s terrifying.
The reactions? Total chaos! Some gamers love it. Like HotRocks215, imploring, “Ima thing main !! I lOVE THIS 🥰🤢.” Others went with jokes by Rockin_Polos: “Im glad Thing gets to look like Venom cus Venom sucks.” Ouch. But at least Dr. Clonenhamen is calling it with “Ben is only getting 10/10 skins.” Words to remember.
And then we have the dissension as to whether this even makes sense in a canonical Big Ben world. SaNBeNito_RE/BH takes it the full-on nerd route of analyzing how the symbiote could technically bond to a rock-based lifeform such as The Thing, saying it “manipulates at a molecular level.” Michel comes back with “La misma manera que rocket, groot y chica ardilla xd” (translation: “Same way as Rocket, Groot, and Squirrel Girl lol”). Casual.
But not everybody got a full thumbs-up from everybody. It’s that experience. Some players then turned rude to the design; OnlyPositivity thought it was just Venom at first, but theirs was a correction; Nuzo, who was against it, shot back, “At least make it less obvious next time you have no idea what you’re talking about.” Damnn.
That is the point when the existential dread club comes in. Alex entered with “Imagine this running after you in your dreams,” and honestly? No. Thanks. Yaskow_ jokingly adds that stream Ilian would “turn off his screen during the MVP or he’ll crap himself.” Mood.
The big question is, though, what does this mean for Marvel Rivals? EternityInGaming say the devs “need to capitalize and produce a movie,” while ShadowShark_710 asks if “Jubilee is coming soon.” Priorities, mate.
All that said, whether you love it, hate it, or merely stand there and dry, “How a rock man got Venomized” is all over the conversation. Given the magnitude of reactions, this little boy might be an actual hit for Marvel Rivals. Now, it’s just a matter of waiting to see if the skin is given away for free or attached to a hell lot of grinding (or worse, a paywall).
So yeah, symbiote Thing is either your new nightmare or your new main. Either way, Marvel Rivals stays winning. Or terrifying. Maybe both.
