Marvel Rivals went ahead and gave us the brief about this new mode called Klyntar’s Resource Rumble on the 21st. This looks like pure mayhem and chaos in the best way possible. I mean- full-on symbiote madness with Knull waking and in Klyntar going haywire! The clock is ticking, and you have to work with your teams to grab power out of the Symbiote Codex while fighting through Hel Gate, Breeding Caverns, and Throne of Knull. A race against time and other teams- fingers crossed that you guys aren’t slow.
From what they’re displaying, it seems like a capture-the-point situation but with a whole lot of Marvel madness. You’re applying your effort to weaken Knull’s grip on his own world while navigating these insane sites. And whoever team gets there the fastest wins. It’s giving me major domination vibes but with no cooldowns, which, honestly, sounds way more intense. Like, nonstop flow through the map? That third point is gonna be crazy.
Now, reactions have been a mixed bag… as expected. Some are really hyped–Oneiros actually posted “This looks funnnn can’t wait” accompanied by several fire emojis. Meanwhile, a few are not-so-excited. At the replies, people are arguing over the matchmaking?? Like, jayski3ks goes, “Alright so can we address the eomm since it apparently doesn’t exist idc about this”. Strongstavgr pokes in with, “Fix match making!” Like dude, they’re literally announcing a new mode and you wanna bring up an old issue?? Classic gamer moment.
Then we got the character requests. Always. ay_gaming56 ends up begging for Miles Morales: “add Miles Morales to the game” with a pleading face emoji. richel_renan says, “this looks different and kinda fun, I’m excited for it… now pls add Vision and Agent 13 to the roster”. Can’t just enjoy some new content, gotta ask for more. But yeah, that’s how live service works: everybody wants their favorite hero tagged in.
Some gamers even go on to pitch more ideas for modes themselves. iamsiloed goes all out with a paragraph about what he wants in a raid battle mode: “I love the idea of having different kinds of game modes, but honestly, if y’all can make like a raid battle mode where you have your team of six versus one major, bad guy character that be phenomenal build a small man give us small adjectives in that map get to the final boss And it’ll be fun”. Yeah, that actually does sound pretty cool. Six players against a giant boss? Count me in.
Then comes the… less positive feedback. In Spanish alons0gt began bashing, which roughly translates to “You yourselves are going to ruin the game with your absurd matchmaking, you idiots, you should listen to the community that complains about this same thing”. Harsh but passionate. And GloryOne said, “Man I dont want to be forced to play this shit in comp.” Okay, bro, no one’s forcing you. Just play what you want.
Voice acting is also in discussion: “Galacta’s voice acting is good to listen to in this mode. They should use the same tone in the other modes,” said PfvrAsh_. That’s a bit of a nicer touch. ChaosPhosphorus gave the nod for “That’s a FromSoft dragon sfx”, which—random, but cool, I guess. Great when games borrow sound assets from other great games.
But, the drama is all in the player replies. There are endless back and-forths of FatCheesus and Rotten_AppleNY insulting each other. Rotten_AppleNY said, “Keep crying in your basement nerd. Lmao need a tissue?” to which FatCheesus replied, “What part of LI are you at tough guy?” Is this a Marvel game or a high-school cafeteria?? Mind-boggling.
The beauty in all of that arguing and name-calling is that the players really do want something new. obliminalgaymer says, “More mode for us to play this is definitely something I’m gonna be into for sure. It seems very fast pace and chaotic.” storm_c3llular concurred with, “I like it. It’s like domination without the match breaks. Get to continuously flow thru all sections of the map.” There you go, positive vibes.
Next stop on the list of demands: requests to have more friends on competitive. joshxrios is like, “@MarvelRivals allow us to play with more than 2 other friends again in competitive. Takes away the fun playing with randoms that suck.” Very fair. Randoms can suck, indeed.
I am getting mixed vibes from them with maybe a bit of excitement. Any news for fresh content is better news, and it gets even better if it is a new game mode which changes up the pace. August 21st is sure to be marked down for the release day, and the Knull storyline itself should deal a smooth hand in tying everything into the Marvel universe. Whether or not that will be able to actually deal with the very issues of matchmaking or balance the players have… probably not. But something new to sink your teeth in is enough to keep them busy for quite a while.
August 21st is a date to be marked, so get your team ready and rumble for Klyntar! Just pray that your teammates won’t be as bad as those randoms everyone is accusing.
