Marvel Rivals 2024 is forever lighting up the San Diego Comic-Con, and royalties were yet glowing in memory of those mad days. The outfit that put together the amazing hero shooter went to Twitter just to thank everyone who came to see the innumerable panels and booth throughout that day and called it a “BLAST.” However, amidst all the goodwill, the answers? My goodness, the answers were a whole other set of narrative—part hype, part demands, and part mayhem. Classic gamer energy.
To begin with, with love. Some players, like Cozy (@ACozyGamer), pretty much called it “one of the best weekends ever,” almost blindly walking into what sounds like a lifetime memory. Then, others night Viki and @churvikv are eagerly awaiting the next debacle, hoping for equal hype, while on the other side of the booth, is Paige (@paige_wv), cheering about that booth setup. Just pure easy vibes.
And then… come the demands. And we say demands borderline. So next, players just had no shame in what they wanted next: characters, skins, fixes-you name it. Marcelo (@Marcelo0089) and celos (@starsede) were campaigning HARD for Pixie getting into the roster, hashtags and all (#makepixieplayable). And Luther (@luther_games2) was all about Carnage: When will the symbiote menace actually make it to play? And let’s never forget Vukester (@RealVukester), who’s been politely pleading for White Tiger Ava Ayala for 223 FREAKING DAYS. Now that is dedication.
Then there were skin hunters. Oh, man! Skin hunters. Some, like Moreday (@michaeldaboy18), did go into full panic mode after mistakenly purchasing the wrong cosmetic and cried loud for a refund. Others, like Miles (@DrPhil1881), were just yearning for the Invisible Woman MCU skin without purchasing the entire bundle. Then we have the impatient ones (@isryouiichi, @flamingricky199), who just bluntly asked: “Where are the new skins??” Pretty much no chill.
There were a few who weren’t celebrating. Some took that moment to express their grievances. Skull Kid (@Skull_Kid96) really did come through with some truth, unfiltered: “Fix your matchmaking or your game is dead before it’s a year old.” Ouch. And then there’s the guy with a self-anointed and really obnoxious moniker, Vegito’s #1 Dick Rider (@VegitodickSuckr), demanding answers about SBMM (skill-based matchmaking for those not in the know). And naturally, there’s Jv (@wycanno) dishing negativity about Luna Snow, saying no one cares about her—until Luis (@luisramirez193) came back with, “We care about Luna Snow.” Drama! Spice! We want to see!
That kaleidoscope of reviews may offer us some insight into just how much these players took to Marvel Rivals. While some fans may be pleading for characters or for systems to be changed, others are actively rallying within the community. That fiery passion is undeniable. And with some already looking at whether the team will be at Gamescom (@kayjii), off-track, it is safe to say, the hype train soon.
What’s next? More events? Reveals? Matchmaking fixes? Only Time will tell, but in the meantime, the Marvel Rivals team will have to history bask in the afterglow of SDCC’s triumph, amid the hilarity that breaks out in the replies between love notes, demands, and wrong purchases. Keep setting the battlefield ablaze, Rivals. 🔥
