Announce-Look Marvel Rivals being released recently for all the student gamers out there. This season of College Perks has now been rejuvenated with bundles of goodies free for all those who certify themselves as students.
Any student who is registered in an institute can avail TEN trial costumes and MVPs, each for free, through Season 4.0 and 4.5, so check it out-FREE! All a student has to do is just get the verification done from their system itself. If you did this for some other season, you will have to perform it again using your email-this season-only thing, so don’t skip it.
From the official Marvel Rivals Twitter account came the announcement, during which the player community immediately began flooding the replies with questions, expressions of joy, and, of course, the normal character demands and calls for balance changes. One player calling himself The Man Who Erased His Name had stated, “Definitely equipping the Maker outfit. For my fellow college bros, what are you majoring in? I’m majoring in game development,” which is a really cool thing to see come from within the community.
Some hiccups did make the rounds in the replies: a few people actually spoke out in regard to issues with the verification process. Gllnger23 gave a firm statement; “My college ain’t there” while someone else questioned, “I don’t have student email can I still join?” Developers have kept other options open if you can’t find your school or your email verification fails-just fill out a form on their support website mentioned in-game or through one of the links they’ve provided.
Interesting timing around the return of these Perks considering some other comments that popped up in the replies. S1mon called the game a “Monetisation machine” and championed the deteriorating playerbase due to lack of meaningful content since launch. Ouch. Free costumes and MVPs might lure back a few? Just maybe?
The usual character-based requests were coming through; a few were asking for Deadpool, one user going under the name of RhoyStrife proclaimed as “Day 39 saying: Put Deadpool,” while others requested Pixie, and various comments calling out for character-specific balance changes like “Buff black panther pls” and “Make Ultron a tank.” The community just cannot stop themselves with suggestions.
The more exciting part is how genuinely a huge number of people appeared in support for the giveaways. User Ahmed said simply, “That’s awesome, like I will have six free skins,” which pretty much summarized the positive attitude around here. Free cosmetics in a game that would ordinarily charge? Count the students in for it.
The verification process seems very much straightforward-thru their system, student email, and boom: free rewards. They included avenues to the player to get help if the automated system doesn’t work for their particular school. Now, that’s thoughtful for a change compared to some other poor promotions that just leave you on your own when something doesn’t work.
Given unfaltering requests from alchemists, balance changes, and features, Marvel Rivals walks a fine line of keeping happy with free content. College Perks are definitely an ace-opportunity for any student gamer that wants to enjoy the game without having to drop coins for cosmetics. Time will tell if this shifts some of the criticisms on monetization. One thing is for sure, though: free stuff looks real good.
Until then, if you are a student playing Marvel Rivals, verify and indulge in costume and MVP grabbing. Doesn’t seem to be your situation? Then maybe it’s time to consider schooling again? Just kidding…unless? Nah, probably not worth it just for some digital outfits. Still, copious fun for those that make the cut.
